Dont be afraid to eat at the taco carts and fish carts they are excellent, cheap and safe. 2. There are several places to eat in the actual village behind the condo complex also very safe and fun to eat at. Tacos y Papas, Suenos, Teresas Tacos. Every year someone new pops up so look around and venture out. Important tips to save you money! 1. Uber is an option now at the PVR airport but they are not allowed to pick you up in front of the airport. You must walk across the sky bridge to the other side of the road. Uber's generally run $25 to Punta de Mita and cabs are $35. If you don't want to walk across the street then expect to pay $60 to $75 for a cab. 2. You can also take an uber or cab directly to the Mega or La Comer grocery stores in Flamingos. This is an easy stop to pick up food and drinks and essentials for your stay. These are your least expensive places to shop and have the most items. After completing your shopping just grab another Uber or cab for the 30 min drive to Punta de Mita. 3. You can rent a car or truck through Gecko in Bucerias and they will pick up at the airport and take you back to their rental office to show you how to drive in Mexico and do all the paperwork. They are the best rates that include full insurance. You can book your car online at www.geckorentcar.com Make sure book at the Bucerias location it's on the way to Punta de Mita. Expect to pay $50 to $55 per day including all insurance. You will find cheaper car rentals in Mexico stating lower rates and then they triple when they make you pay the insurance. Adam is the owner of Gecko and speaks perfect English and is very honest. 4. Busses are an option and they are very inexpensive but will take you about 2 hours to get to Punta de Mita and they are not air conditioned. I don't recommend this option but it is available. If you need to rent a car use Gecko a local company who will pick up and drop you off at the airport for free. That alone saves you $150 in travel costs. Message me and I will give you all the contact info.
