Other things to note -South Florida & Palmetto Bugs- As with all homes in South Florida, occasional palmetto bugs may be seen, especially after periods of heavy rain or changes in weather. The home is professionally and routinely treated by pest control; however, because of the tropical climate, it is impossible to guarantee they will never appear. To help prevent pests, all food and beverages must be consumed in the kitchen or dining area only. Please do not eat or leave food in bedrooms, the living room, or outdoor areas, as even small crumbs can attract insects. We also ask that all trash be disposed of promptly. -Air Conditioning & Climate- The home receives beautiful natural sunlight throughout the day. Like many older South Florida homes, the AC may take longer to cool during very hot summer afternoons, especially with frequent door opening. The system is regularly maintained and designed to keep the home comfortable, and ceiling fans are provided throughout the space for additional airflow. Please keep all ceiling fans running during your stay, even when you’re away from the home. The fans help circulate cool air, reduce humidity, and allow the air conditioning system to work more efficiently. All exterior doors must remain closed at all times while the air conditioning is running. This is especially important during the summer months. The front door must be fully closed and locked each time you enter or leave. Even if the door is left open just a crack, hot and humid outside air can quickly enter the home, making it difficult for the AC to maintain a comfortable temperature and potentially causing excess moisture inside. While it may be tempting to open the French doors to enjoy the outdoors, they must remain closed during the summer months. Leaving them open can overwhelm the air conditioning system, introduce excessive humidity, and may cause damage to the home. Your help in keeping all exterior doors securely closed ensures a comfortable stay for everyone and helps protect the property. Please note that the master bathroom does not have its own air conditioning vent. Because of this, it will naturally be warmer than the rest of the home, particularly if the bathroom door is kept closed for extended periods. Leaving the bathroom door open when practical will help air circulate and keep the space more comfortable. For the protection of the property, exterior doors are equipped with sensors that monitor when they are left open. If doors or windows are left open in violation of these house rules, resulting in excessive strain on the HVAC system, increased utility costs, or damage to the home, guests may be subject to additional charges in accordance with Airbnb’s policies and the House Rules. -Walls & Hanging Decorations- To help keep the home in excellent condition for all guests, please do not use tape, adhesive strips, mounting putty, nails, tacks, or any other adhesive products on the walls, doors, windows, or furniture. These materials can damage paint and finishes, even when labeled as “removable.” If any decorations or signage are brought into the home, they must be freestanding or placed on surfaces without adhesives. Guests may be responsible for the cost of repairing any damage caused by tape or other mounting materials.
