Island Amenities: You have full access to our beach towels free of charge and snorkeling gear (subject to availability) to explore the house reef just steps away. Other things to note 🚢 Getting to Maalhos Maalhos is located in the Baa Atoll. To reach us from Velana International Airport (MLE), you have two main options: Scheduled Speedboat: A scenic 2-hour trip (approx. $45-$50 per person, one way). Domestic Flight: A 20-minute flight to Dharavandhoo Airport followed by a 10-minute speedboat ride to Maalhos. Note: Please message us at least 3 days in advance so we can book your transfers for you! 🕌 Local Culture & Dress Code As Maalhos is a beautiful, inhabited local island, we kindly ask our guests to respect the local culture: Dress Code: While on the streets and in the village, please keep shoulders and knees covered (t-shirts and shorts/sundresses are fine). Bikini Beach: We have a dedicated "Bikini Beach" just a short walk away where you can wear swimwear, sunbathe, and swim freely. Alcohol: Per Maldivian law, alcohol is not permitted on local islands. However, we can arrange trips to nearby resort bars if you’d like a cocktail! 🌊 Hanifaru Bay (UNESCO Biosphere) We are located in a prime spot for visiting Hanifaru Bay. If you are visiting during "Manta Season" (typically May–November), please let us know! We can help arrange certified snorkeling tours to see the incredible manta ray and whale shark aggregations. 💳 Currency & Payments The local currency is Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted. There is ATM on the island. Most excursions and your stay can be paid via card or USD. Local currency is not exchanged at bank rate, 🦎 Nature’s Neighbors You are in a tropical paradise! It is normal to see friendly fruit bats in the trees, small geckos on the walls, and colorful lizards in the garden.
