Storybook Cabin in the Woods
Description
Escape the hustle to relax in this cozy, semi-off-grid log cabin built in 1850 from hand-hewn Quebec logs. Nestled on over an acre of private forest, the cabin offers the ideal mix of peaceful seclusion and convenient access. Enjoy a coffee on the porch. Connect with friends around the fire. Look up at the stars. Let the fairytale charm and storybook touches immerse you in the magic of the woods. The space This unique one-room (with loft) log cabin offers the comforts of electricity and Wi-Fi, while embracing a rustic, back-to-basics escape into the woods. The cabin feels wonderfully remote, thanks to its position set back from the road and surrounded by mature trees—but it's located on a year-round serviced road, making it accessible in all seasons. Just 5 minutes away, you’ll find Katrine General Store. Katrine’s public beach and boat launch on Little Doe Lake are a lovely walk or short drive away. Drive 10 minutes to visit Burk's Falls for groceries and dining. Arrowhead Provincial Park is only 15 minutes away for hiking and exploring. Please note that this is a semi-off-grid stay that *does not have all of the luxuries of home.* There is no plumbing; no running water/tap. **You will need to bring your own water for washing/drinking. The washroom is a clean, private outhouse. Outdoor shower with refillable solar shower bag is seasonal (May-Oct). **One bag of firewood provided per stay (for outdoor firepit). Wood for the woodstove provided for heat during the fall/winter months. You may hear mice or wildlife at night. There are bugs and spiderwebs. The deck steps may be slippery when it rains/snows. There is minimal exterior lighting (solar only). No air conditioning. Two fans provided (a standing fan in the sleeping loft) and a smaller black fan. The stairs to the sleeping loft are narrow (not suitable for small children/guests with accessibility needs). **This cabin is best suited for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and those who appreciate peace and simplicity.
