Description

Stunning location, one of the best house sites in Scotland, overlooking the secluded bay at Clachtoll, directly onto Split Rock and Assynt Mountain range beyond. The artistic owner has ensured a comfortable interior of distinctive character. An extensive library of books, paintings, assorted artwork and aesthetically pleasing objects, combine to provide rooms of considerable interest. The stunning views from the house are without doubt one of the most memorable features of this home! The space Artistic owners have created a house of considerable charm. Entrance porch into under floor heating tiled hallway. First door on the left is kitchen area, with table and chairs for 3 people. (Dining table seating 6 in living room). Kitchen has dishwasher, electric halogen hob cooker top, Microwave oven/combination oven, separate built in oven/grill. Washing machine. There is one bathroom with large shower/tray. Heated under floor heater. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs, one master at the end overlooking the sea (double bed), plenty of built in storage/wardrobe space, dressing table and chest of drawers. Twin room next door, again same built in wardrobes. Side drawers. On the ground floor off the hall, is by far the main attraction of the house, an open ceiling living area and dining room, with central stove/fire place, walls full of quirky artwork and ornaments and the most stunning, unique view out to sea, Split Rock and the Assynt mountain ranges beyond. The living room windows open up out onto a patio area and beautiful secluded, enclosed garden. In front of this window and garden area is 'the secret garden' the original croft house of the site, a ruin now, but walls subtly restored to house a further sheltered garden area. A gem of a spot. DOGS - well behaved dogs are welcome - they will love it here, but the owner requests 'leave no trace' and no dogs in the bedrooms please. Thank you. Guest access The whole house and extensive enclosed garden area, access to beach space directly from garden. Access to beautiful coastal walk to Stoer beach and beyond, all from the cottage door. At the rear section of the garden there is a huge expanse of cut grass, facilitating a football pitch and volleyball court. We ask guests politely, to please ensure gates are closed when they come and go from the property, this is to ensure no sheep come in! They do love our grass! Arrangements for key collection will be made at point of contact with the host in confirmation communications. Thank you. Other things to note Assynt is an area of outstanding natural beauty, a World Heritage site in terms of geology and an area rich in wildlife and history. There are some truly stunning beaches and turquoise waters in this area. Some local knowledge/information for you.. Shops nearby: Flossies, a gem of a small grocery shop for essentials, plus small outside seating area. Serves teas/coffees, cakes and the best bacon rolls! 10 minute walk from the house to the camp site entrance, or can park outside. Lochinver (7 miles): Spar (and post office), other convenience store across the bridge, various cafes, the world famous Deli Pies to be sampled at The Larder, Delilah's and Peets, Excellent Food/Service! S. Greenless & Son Butchers, Driftwood Cafe, fab coffee and cakes! The Fisherman's Mission, another favourite for fish and chips, home cooked food, cakes and Mackay's Hardware and Chandlery, sells everything.. from tools, wellies, paints, crockery, fishing equipment, calor gas, to wetsuits, body boards, and buckets and spades! Rockpool shop! A fabulous gift shop, must be visited.. a range of beautiful jewellery, gems, cards, bead bracelets, as well as talented local ceramist Fergus Stewarts pottery, other ceramists, scarves, and other gifts. Another world famous attraction, is to visit the Highland Stoneware shop. Directions to Clachtoll: Perth to Inverness 2 hours - good location to stock up at Tesco Inverness. Inverness to Ullapool - 1 hour, another Tesco (smaller), Boots Chemist here too. Ullapool to Lochinver - 45 minutes Lochinver turn right to Clachtoll (15/20 minutes) Stunning drive along a single track road with passing spaces. Plenty of opportunities to view stunning scenery. Clachtoll - turn left at campsite, towards the beach, drive on passed the car park, and public toilets, to gate at the end - Salmon Bothy, through gate (close it behind you) and right down the track through a further 2 gates (all must be closed please/sheep!) If arriving at night/winter, please be mindful for deer that come down off the hill and can stray onto the road.
