Description
Spectacular views across Tagish Lake framed by mountain views greet you at our sandy beach side chalet as soon as you pull in the driveway. The house is airy and light, sticking into the sky, exposing you to the view with lots of window glass yet keeping it cozy with plenty of decks and overhangs, fireplace and cozy furnishing - a mix of wilderness and beauty tempered by comfort and livability, views and retreat. Walk barefoot down to the water, espresso coffee in hand... The space The chalet is spacious in itself with lots of outdoor and indoor space to hang out - decks under the roof and open decking with balcony. Inside there is one bedroom with a queen sized bed. Upstairs in the open landing we have two window seats/beds of 30 inch width, and a pull out couch that sleeps two. So while six people can use the space it is up to you how cozy you wish to get. There is a full, very well equipped kitchen in an open configuration with the living room/dining area. The bathroom has a sink with cabinet, toilet, bath tub with shower in it, and a small closet with towels, tissue and a washing machine and detergent. Towels, tissues and washing machine are of course for your use as is the dishwasher in the kitchen. The hall way closet is equipped with lots of board games, cleaning supplies, and basic repair kit. The buffet in the dining area holds things like glue, tape, pens, sewing kit and manuals, e.g. for the dishwasher. Internet is via Starlink. Local cell service is good. There is plenty of parking, even for an RV/camper - there are 3 areas one can park in. A bbque sits on the front deck - out of any wind, and there is a camp fire area closer to the beach with ample seating and a fire pit. We are on water delivery, so there are tanks in the crawl space that get refilled. In case of water emergency there is an outhouse. The sea can, key hanging in the spacious entry with lots of hooks for coats and space for boots and shoes, holds extra dining chairs as well as outdoor equipment for your use. There is a canoe closer to the shore that you may use with paddles sitting on the roofed over entry way and life vests in the sea can. Enjoy your stay! Guest access The entire place with all its equipment in it is yours to use. We live ten minutes away. Other things to note Tagish is a small place, spread out from the shores of Marsh Lake, along the Six Mile River and the shores of Tagish Lake. Tagish has a restaurant (in the summer) at the bridge (6 Mile Resort) with off sales, a boat launch at the bridge, a camp ground (the boat launch at the camp ground is not as good), and two more boat launches in Taku Subdivision along Tagish Lake that can be very shallow earlier in the summer. There is another restaurant about 20 minutes away at a gorgeous, secluded location called Southern Lakes Resort. Carcross is about 25 minutes away and Whitehorse about one hour and ten minutes. Whitehorse has all amenities. Carcross is busy in the summer with restaurant, shops, cafe, visitor center, etc. There is a great beach, an old downtown, and the historic train that comes and goes from Skagway, Alaska. It was built for the gold rush. You are also in close proximity to the Chilkoot Trail (which went from Skagway to Bennett Lake). Every boat that was built on Bennett Lake and sailed or paddled to Dawson went past the chalet you will be staying in. For mountain bikers and hiker Montana Mountain in Carcross offers great recreation. You can also go up Jubilee Mountain off the Tagish Road, direction Alaska Highway. It goes to the tower you see from the porch on the left. Tagish and Marsh Lakes offer good fishing. In the winter you can cross country ski and snowmobile. Or go for a walk on the deserted beach and onto the frozen lake.
