Description
Enjoy the serenity of nature when you stay in this traditional Mongolian Yurt nestled into our 6+ acre forest oasis in Kansas. Access to a creek, small lake (kayaks and canoe available), and forest trails, with lots of varieties of plants and wildlife. You will most likely see some of our friendly cats roaming around, too. Hillsdale Lake is right up the road with miles of horse/bike/walking trails and boats to rent. A beautiful experience in all four seasons! 🌱🌺🍂❄️ The space ❤️ We are Nature Lovers and truly enjoy sharing our little slice of Heaven with people seeking the peaceful and healing qualities of Mother Nature. Check-in is at 4 PM. Check-out is at 11 AM. 🛖 Our Yurt is meant to provide an immersive experience in nature with some added comfort. You will feel the seasons and the elements while staying here. Please plan accordingly. 🔥 Please note that during the Winter months, the yurt is heated by a wood stove, so stove knowledge/experience is necessary for a comfortable stay. Wood will be provided for a 2 day stay. Additional wood may be gathered in our forest or bought at the gas station up the road. Additional portable heaters are available for your use. 🪵 Tip for the stove - keep door slightly cracked to let more airflow in until fire is blazing, then close when fire is well established. 👋🏽 Please contact us if you need any assistance with the stove - we are more than happy to help. 💧Water available inside Yurt. 🔌 Outlets available. 🫖 Electric kettle and 2 mugs are available. 🔥 Outdoor Firepit available with small cooking grate for cooking on the fire. 😋 Wood can be gathered from our forest. 🥙 Family owned local restaurants nearby. We love El Potro, Spring of China, Milo’s Steakhouse, K&M Bar-B-Q, and Simple Simon’s Pizza! 🌬️ Please note: no AC. A fan is available for air flow, but as stated, our Yurt stays are meant to provide an immersive nature experience. In the summer time, the Yurt is ventilated with screened openings to also promote air flow. 🌧️ Due to the nature of the Yurt as an Earth-based shelter built/sewn by hand in the traditional Mongolian way, some leaks along the edges may occur in heavy rains. An easy clean up with a towel will do the trick, and we will provide the towel. 🚫 Please be prepared for no laundry, shower, or kitchen. You may like to bring a cooler for food. 🚽 Bathroom is located behind the Yurt as a compost toilet in outhouse. Please pour sawdust over waste. 🌲You are welcome to explore the trails, forest, and lake, and enjoy our 6 acre Nature sanctuary. We have 2 Kayaks available to rent for $10/day. 🐾 Please be respectful of wildlife and our cats. We also have a sweet elderly Pomeranian who enjoys patrolling the property - her name is Josie. She may bark but she is just doing her “job.” She is very friendly and affectionate if you’d like to pet her. 🌾 Trails can be accessed over by your parking spot, wrapping around the field and down to the lake. Please stay on our side of the creek. 🧚🏻♀️ Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns before or during your stay. We live on the property, so we will be available to you. 🕰️ Please let us know when you plan to arrive. Depending on the season and weather, we may need to do prep work to get the Yurt to a desired state - such as starting a fire in the stove so it is warm for when you arrive. Other things to note 🚽 Bathroom is located behind the Yurt as a compost toilet in outhouse. Please pour sawdust over waste. 🔥 Fire pit with firewood able to be gathered in the woods. 🪵 Wood for wood stove will be provided inside Yurt for a 1-2 day Winter stay. 💧 Water available in 5 gallon jug for drinking and cooking. 🫖 Electric kettle available. 🚫 No WiFi
