Description

The Lewis & Clark Guest House is a historic cottage that has been thoughtfully remodeled into a luxurious retreat while still keeping the feel of its colonial heritage- perfect for a romantic getaway or small group. This charming home was built in 1793 and once owned by the Commandant of St. Charles, Don Carlos Tayon. He lived here when Merriwether Lewis and William Clark arrived and met with him presumably in this house! The space The main entrance opens into a gorgeous master bedroom with king, 4 post bed, quality linens, and down comforter. From the bed you can view the large stone and brick hearth with gas flame stove, perfect for snuggling up on a chilly night. There is also two upholstered sitting chairs and a table for relaxing or reading and taking your morning coffee. A flat screen TV, and armoire are also included for your convenience. A set of lovely double doors leads you into an amazingly luxurious and unique master bathroom. Stone steps lead you up to the oversized raised jetted tub with brick surround. Adjacent to that is the expansive tiled shower complete with two sets of shower systems including multiple rainfall shower heads and body sprayers. From the tub and the shower, you can see another fireplace set into a stone hearth and an additional flat screen tv above it. Also in the suite is a separate room with the toilet, an antique dresser made into the vanity, and large capacity washer/dryer behind two doors. Off the back of the bedroom is a charming sitting room with a built in seating area with a twin mattress and numerous soft pillows for the ultimate comfort in lounging or extra sleeping space if needed. There is an additional tv in this room as well for viewing from your cozy retreat. From there you can see into the adorable kitchen with white washed brick walls, and cabinets the same lovely dark grey green color that is carried throughout the home. Amply outfitted with high end appliances, this full kitchen make dining in a joy. Custom built in bench with antique table for eating, and a coffee bar complete with a Keurig coffee machine, frother, and variety of k-cups for your enjoyment. Head outside with your morning coffee to the beautiful fully privacy-fenced backyard. The historic brick patio welcomes you with comfortable seating amd tiki torches. You sit out under the enormous tulip tree, and enjoy the evening, cuddling by the fires. Of course, when you want to leave your spa-like oasis, Main Street and all the unique shops and fantastic eating establishments, Katy trail, parks and more are only steps away. You can spend many days exploring all it has to offer, and when you have done all that, we are a short half hour drive to downtown St. Louis and the never-ending attractions that await you there.
