Description

Custom built passive solar home at the north end of the Magdalena Mountains - the best view in town of Magdalena Mountain and the lady of the mountain (though the lady looks her best at the end of the driveway). Property borders the Cibola National Forest, great 360deg views, the sky is magic and ever changing, dark skies at night. Closest neighbor a quarter mile away, but you are still just a five minute drive to the village. Open floor plan, 30mins from Socorro, 90 mins to ABQ airport. The space This house is super cozy - and connects you to nature all around. Beautiful views, and the home is isolated enough that you may get wildlife visitors. Endless photo opportunities. You will never want to leave - waking up in the master bedroom with the view of the Magdalena Mountain and the rest of the Maggies in the distance is amazing. And the lightning storms in the summer if you are lucky enough to catch the monsoon! Or the snow on a winter day! Or the sunsets, sunrises, it’s endless. I’ll speak for myself when I say it’s my favorite place on earth. This house has a long driveway - a half mile, the trailer at the quarter mile mark is rented by a family member and her puppy. It's important to note that the driveway actually runs through an arroyo - a dry river bed. Late in the monsoon season, this "river" will run occasionally. USE CAUTION WHEN APPROACHING THE ARROYO IN LATE SUMMER. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER. In addition, there is the chance that the arroyo will run while you are in the house, or while you are out and about - which means, for a brief time, a flowing water can cut you off from getting to the house, or from leaving the house. For those staying in the house in July/August/Sept - 4 wheel drive is recommonded, but if you just have a regular 2 wheel drive vehicle, it just means you may have to wait for someone to get the tractor out and fix spot on the driveway where the arroyo crosses. This is not common, but it happens a few times a year toward the end of the monsoon season, after water starts to accumulate higher up the mountains. Any bookings between July 1 and Sept 30 will require a phone conversation with Patti to discuss arroyo safety.
