The space The ZzzzMoose Camping Cabins Our insulated and heated (fall, winter. spring) cabins boast a unique design and approach to camping that blend almost seamlessly with the natural surroundings, providing a cozy haven for your camping adventure. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoor lifestyle, our camping cabins offer a perfect retreat for those seeking a simple and authentic connection with nature. The Cabins have a shaded deck and private picnic table. Cabin Guests have access to our (Rocky) beach, great for a walk and a campfire in the evening. The Dancing Moose Cafe, on the same property, is closed for the general public in 2025 but serves (optional) breakfast for the guests that stay on the property. Breakfast, a la carte, is available between 7.30 and 10.00 am. The ZzzzMoose Camping Cabins are located on the East side of Cape Breton Island, 8 km south of Cape Smokey, between the Cape Breton Highlands National Park (25 km) and the town of Baddeck (65 km) on the Bras d'Or Lakes. The North Shore, originally settled by Scots in the early 1800s, is now home to a variety of nationalities. Lobster and Crab fishery (May-July), are a important part of the culture and the many talented artisans, musicians and crafters in our area makes this a very diverse Community. There are lots of hiking and snowshoeing trails in and outside the National Park Cross-country Skiing at North Highland Nordic (1 hour north) and if you like golf... Highland Links is a beautiful 25-minute drive away. Ski Cape Smokey, 20 minutes north of us is a great downhill ski resort with the longest vertical drop in Atlantic Canada! We are a 4 season accommodation! Guest access Guests can use almost the whole property including the accessible (rock) beach. On the north side of the property (left from the Cafe) we have the Sleeping Moose Cottage. The space around and behind the Cottage, up to the picnick table is only for the guests from the Cottage Other things to note Linen and other important info! Bed Linen is not standard provided at the Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins. The beds and loft beds have mattress protectors. The provided pillows have pillow protectors. You can bring your own sleeping bag(s) or bedding or we can provide a linen package at a small fee. It is $7.50 for a double bed and $6.00 for a single bed for your stay. The package has all sheets, pillowcases, a comforter and towels. In the summer of 2024, we finished the shared kitchen space for our 4 Zzzz Moose Cabins It is the ground floor of the also 2024 “new” rental unit, “The Birch Plain "Tower” The shared kitchen entrance also leads to the 4 bathrooms for the cabins in the comfort station. The kitchen has a microwave, electric, double hot plate, Air fryer, electric kettle, pots, pans, plates, cups etc. Every cabin has a dedicated mini fridge in that area. The kitchen is set up to make simple meals and warm up food items. It's not a kitchen to make "5 star" meals 😁 As mentioned, The "Birch Plain Tower" our newest rental unit, is also part of the building and if you need to use the kitchen and bathroom after 8.00 PM please keep the noise levels down. The Cabins are fully insulated and there is a small electrical heater in them that makes them nice an comfortable, even in harsh winter conditions.
