Description
Church Hill House is a recently fully renovated and spacious Georgian property in the village of Kingussie, set within the stunning Cairngorms National Park. Spend your days in the hills, walking along the Spey, visiting local attractions or relaxing in the garden or sitting room. In the evenings, revitalise in the plush bathrooms; dine in style in the bespoke kitchen; relax with a whisky in the snug, or watch the stars from the garden sitooterie; then sleep soundly in a peaceful bedroom. The space Church Hill House is a beautiful 1820s house in a quiet Highland village street, meticulously restored (2024) and furnished with a mix of old and new to evoke the dream Highland Lodge. You don't however need 16 friends to fill it, or a Landrover to get here. Kingussie is on the main north-south train line, and the house is a seven minute walk from Kingussie station. Direct services run from London (including the Caledonian Sleeper), Edinburgh, Glasgow and connections to the full network. From here you can walk or cycle in the stunning country of the Cairngorms National Park, or walk to the shops and excellent village pub. Or arrive by road, secure off road parking for up to four cars. Underfloor heating, super comfy beds with hotel quality bed linen, thick fluffy towels, deep baths and large walk-in showers meet Anta carpets and pure wool tartan curtains, with vintage Sanderson fabrics, SofaWorkshop velvet sofas and antique Art Deco leather armchairs. There are board games, and shelves of books on the Highlands (and thrillers), with railway posters, Landseer engravings and original oil paintings of Scottish landscapes on the walls. The handmade kitchen has everything you need and open shelves so you can see it all. A fully enclosed (and slightly wild) garden at the back, has a 'sitooterie' (a Scots word to describe a place in a garden in which you can 'sit oot' - usually roofed!) to shield you from both sun and rain. Stretch out and relax, there's lots of room to gather together or to curl up with a book on your own. The house is perfect for one or two couples or small groups - the green bedroom can be made up with twin beds or one super-king. One baby welcome, contact us for travel cot etc. Sorry no pets or smoking allowed on the premises. We can arrange private whisky or champagne tasting in the house, or a guided kayak tour down the Spey. Let us know. Please bring your own additional towels if you plan to swim in the River Spey (10 minute walk) or nearby lochs. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house and enclosed private garden with secure off street parking. Other things to note Property capacity is 4 x guests plus one infant in a cot. Larger parties cannot be accommodated.
