The Roost Guesthouse 3 Bedrooms/3 Full Baths

The Roost is nestled right on front street- where you are steps away from live music, galleries, and coffee. As one of the few residential buildings directly on the main drag, historically, this guesthouse was home to the foreman who worked at the coal mines in the 1800's. When The Purple Fiddle opened in 2002, this guesthouse boarded the nationally-renowned traveling musicians who played there. The space THE SPACE: The Roost is located right off of the main drag in Thomas, WV. The guesthouse portion of this historical building currently has 3 rooms, with queen-sized beds, served by 3 shared bathrooms, a kitchenette, a dining room/living room area, and a small porch. This centurion guesthouse has recently undergone the first phase of a remodel and is looking quite fantastic if we do say! The remodel has updated many important functions while maintaining the character created over 100yrs of use. We are continually developing and improving the space! The guesthouse has a quaint creative charm while offering some modern features. Guests that are seeking a pristine vacation rental home may not enjoy the quirks and sqeaks of an historic building and may want to check out one of the resorts in Canaan Valley. THE AREA: The town of Thomas has several beautiful art galleries, some coffee shops/restaurants, and shops, but is also a great home-base to explore the surrounding natural area. Blackwater Falls and Cannan Valley State Parks are a short drive away, as well as several ski resorts, and Dolly Sods and Otter Creek Wilderness Areas. The town of Davis is a 5 minute drive to several restaurants, breweries and shops and trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS TO NOTE: The Roost is located in a charming older building that shares the walls with an upcoming business next door that is still in the renovation stage. We are very mindful of when we are working on the space next door, but it should be noted that you may hear light construction noise during the day at times. The Roost is located directly to the right of The Purple Fiddle (a wonderful live music venue). Because of this, you may hear music and the hustle and bustle of the late-night crowds. At times, Front Street can be busy and surprisingly noisy at night with late-night crowds and traffic. To help light sleepers, in each bedroom we provide noise machines that double as bluetooth speakers. At other times, Front Street can be very calm and peaceful. It's tough to say what you will get during your stay. Guests wanting a guaranteed serene stay should lovingly seek elsewhere. Guest access Guests have access to the entire guesthouse (save a private room for storage and cleaning) and shared front porch.
