Description
The Ulenhuus is located in the middle of the idyllic region of Mecklenburg Switzerland, not far from the cities of Rostock and Güstrow. It is located in the small cul-de-sac village of Zehlendorf - a place where you can recharge your batteries in seclusion and close to nature. Typical rural Mecklenburg flair is just as much a part of the townscape as many horses. Directly behind the exit of the village, the Zehlendorfer Moor nature reserve beckons and opens up a wide view over the structurally rich Recknitz lowland landscape. The space The Ulenhuus has been open to guests after loving renovation, mostly in-house, since 2025. It offers 240 sqm of overnight accommodation with garden, terrace and fully equipped shared kitchen as well as a very cozy living area with smart TV system. Floor-to-ceiling windows here ensure a good connection from the inside and out in summer as well as a beautiful view of adjacent meadows, forests and paddocks. The house has three double bedrooms and one family room as well as four (external) bathrooms. The family room measures about 22 square meters and, next to the bedroom, has another room with a couch as a cozy seating area. This can be used as a double sofa bed when used as a family room. The bedroom is equipped with two single beds. The beds have Emma one mattresses (test winner) and associated toppers for perfect sleeping comfort. Emma mattresses are also integrated in the bed couch. The decor naturally combines Nordic charm with modern comforts. Real wood furniture and wooden floors are also part of the equipment. The house has two entrances. The main entrance leads to an open hallway, kitchen and common area. From here you go to the upper floor, where the Family Room No. 2 is located. In the same hallway there is another room as well as one of the bathrooms. The second bathroom is on the ground floor. Both are equipped with shower, toilet and sink. The family room has another entrance/exit - you can get from here to the other part of the building, where there are two more bathrooms (1.OG/EG). The kitchen is fully equipped and can be used to prepare food. Optionally and upon prior request, breakfast can be booked for 15.00 euros per person. This consists of an extended continental breakfast, which we compile in cooperation with our farm shop located in the neighboring village from regional products as well as organic and natural coster products. It consists of: rolls, butter, sausage, cheese, egg, jam, cereals, yoghurt, fruit as well as coffee, tea and juice. We prepare breakfast on a nice tray, which is placed in the fridge. Our concept provides that you will then warm up your own rolls, prepare eggs and coffee, etc. You decide when you'll enjoy your breakfast. Please let us know at least 24 hours before arrival if you want to book breakfast. We ask that you pay in cash locally. Ulenhuus is located on a 3,000 sqm natural property and has a large terrace in a southern direction, as well as seating islands in the garden as well as a north garden, which is particularly suitable as a place to stay outdoors in great heat. Storage facilities for bicycles are also available. The property is great for transient travelers for a stopover. The property is only about 15 minutes away from the Scandinavian ferries via Gedser (DK) or Trelleborg (Swe). It is also suitable for bike tourists or hikers, but also for workation stays or co-working retreats in an inspiring place to work. There is fast fiber optic internet as well as a stable 5G reception, so even mobile devices can be easily used. The house is suitable for family reunions/ trips. Booking the entire house is possible via our listing Landhaus Ulenhuus Mecklenburg Switzerland. Guest access Guests can use the common room, the kitchen with the dining area as well as the terrace and the outdoor area without restriction. In the attic there is a room that serves as a laundry storage and is not accessible. Adjacent to the vacation home is a part of the building that is currently still rented. The associated terrace and a small garden section are reserved for the exclusive use of the tenants. The terraces are separated by privacy screens. In the village there is a nice children's playground. The outdoor area at the Ulenhuus is still in the making and design - one or the other corner is not (quite) finished. In the village, there is a riding stable. Riding lessons are available upon request. During the holidays, weekly riding camps are offered here. On nights that are extremely dark and free of light pollution, you can enjoy a starry sky here, as you can hardly experience it in large cities - no artificial light disturbs the view of the stars. For arrival we recommend your own car. But the use of public transport is also possible - albeit limited.
