The Ulenhuus is located in the middle of the idyllic region of Mecklenburg Switzerland, not far from the cities of Rostock and Güstrow. It is located in the small cul-de-sac village of Zehlendorf - a place where you can recharge your batteries in seclusion and close to nature. Typical rural Mecklenburg flair is just as much a part of the townscape as many horses. Directly behind the exit of the village, the Zehlendorfer Moor nature reserve beckons and opens up a wide view over the structurally rich Recknitz lowland landscape. Swap the city lights for a clear starry sky, enjoy the tranquility of country life and pick fresh fruit from trees and shrubs – straight from the garden. The Ulenhuus 🦉 has been open to guests since 2025 after loving renovation, mostly done by ourselves. It offers 240 sqm of overnight accommodation with garden, terrace and fully equipped shared kitchen as well as a very cozy living area with smart TV system. Floor-to-ceiling windows here ensure a good connection from the inside and out in summer as well as a beautiful view of adjacent meadows, forests and paddocks. The house has three double rooms, a family room and an attic room with two sleeping places and four (external) bathrooms accessible via an open staircase. There are two entrances. The main entrance leads to an open hallway, kitchen and common area. From here you go to the upper floor, where there is a double bedroom and the family room. The latter consists of two single rooms, one of which has a double sofa bed (ideal as a sleeping place for two children/ teenagers). The second entrance on the north side of the building leads to the other two bedrooms (1st floor and attic). The family room can also be reached as a result. Bathrooms are each on the ground floor and on the 1st floor and are all equipped with shower, toilet and sink. The decor naturally combines Nordic charm with modern comforts. All beds have Emma one mattresses (test winner) and associated toppers for perfect sleeping comfort. Ulenhuus is located on a 3,000 sqm natural property and has a large terrace in a southern direction, as well as seating islands in the garden as well as a north garden, which is particularly suitable as a place to stay outdoors in great heat. Storage facilities for bicycles are also available. There is fast fiber optic internet as well as a stable 5G reception, so even mobile devices can be easily used. The house is suitable for family gatherings/trips. Events/celebrations in a family setting are possible with us by prior arrangement. We are happy to arrange a good caterer for you. Guest access Guests have full access to all areas of the vacation home except for a room that serves as a laundry storage room and a room that is still being completed. Adjacent to the vacation home is a part of the building that is currently still rented. The associated terrace and a small garden section are reserved for the exclusive use of the tenants. The terraces are separated by privacy screens. Other things to note In Kuhs, just 2 km away, you will find our farm shop with regional products, organic and natural food products as well as vegetables from our own farm (opening hours: Mon 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm, Tue-Fri 10:00 am - 6:30 pm). Bread and rolls are delivered by a traditional baker in the 8th generation - he knows his craft very well! There are also rolls for baking at the weekend. The assortment is complemented by Italian and Spanish specialties. Just take a look - then the vacation will also be a culinary experience! The surroundings invite you to walk, hike and cycle. In the village there is a nice children's playground. The outdoor area at the vacation home is still in the making and design - one or the other corner is not (quite) finished. In the village, there is a riding stable. Riding lessons are available upon request. During the holidays, weekly riding camps are offered here. On nights that are extremely dark and free of light pollution, you can enjoy a starry sky here, as you can hardly experience it in large cities - no artificial light disturbs the view of the stars. For arrival we recommend your own car. But the use of public transport is also possible - albeit limited. On weekdays, if possible, use bus line 200, direction Laage, Breesener Straße, 2:00 pm from ZOB Güstrow, as this Zehlendorf, Wendeplatz arrives directly. The Ulenhuus is in the immediate vicinity of the Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycle route as well as the Herrenhaus and Recknitztal cycle routes MV Thanks to convenient transport links and location in one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany, a wide range of cultural and leisure activities are only a few minutes away by car or bicycle. If you use the house for family reunions or even a small celebration and want to set up a nice table on our meadow, we can also provide you with a pop-up party tent for self-assembly and disassembly (fee 30 euros per stay). Dimensions 4 x 6 m, including space for 12-14 people. Since you book the house exclusively, it is possible to bring your four-legged friend upon prior request. An additional fee will then be charged.
