C❂ZY is a centuries-old Cycladic home given fresh life in the village of Isternia. Utmost attention has been given to highlight the building's organic and idiosyncratic nature. With its generous view to sea, large terrace, and experimental/artistic details, this eccentric space will delight your inner dreamer/lover/artist/poet/romantic/starseed. Come get C❂ZY! The space Welcome to our C❂ZY abode in Isternia, Tinos! Your interest in our space delights us. Thanks for visiting. We hope you come as visitors and leave as friends. ❤︎ Melina + Nikiforos "C❂ZY" IN FIVE WORDS (other than cozy, of course): Luminous ✳︎ Inquisitive ✳︎ Soulful ✳︎ Primitive ✳︎ Natural THE GIST: An artsy two-bedroom abode tucked into a quiet corner of the popular village of Isternia, with a unique aesthetic and expansive sea views that’ll pull the inner poet right out of you. FEATURES: ❤︎ 100m2 living space ❤︎ 50m2 marble-laid terrace w/ sea view ❤︎ 2 x cozy and cool bedrooms ❤︎ experimental earthen walls ❤︎ interior clay plasters & lime paint ❤︎ natural latex mattresses + high-quality bedding ❤︎ natural buckwheat pillows (Sobakawa style) ❤︎ full kitchen: oven, stove, full-sized fridge ❤︎ high-speed blender (Ninja) ❤︎ ceramic-plated cookware ❤︎ high-quality starter ingredients (organic olive oil, honey, etc) ❤︎ handmade, local soaps & Korres shampoo ❤︎ plush bathrobes ❤︎ ceiling fans ❤︎ collection of books ❤︎ free WiFi ❤︎ 2 x yoga mats (more upon request) ❤︎ our exclusive PDF guide ❤︎ vegan-friendly space (services upon request) ❤︎ a sprinkle of magic THE SPACE: TERRACE: You enter the home through the enclosed terrace, with uninterrupted views to the Aegean and Syros. The terrace is 50m2 and laid with local marble, with built-in benches and tables for outdoor seating. There is also a faucet where you can quickly rinse off beach sand or cool down. SALONI: The main living space, with an imposing traditional archway, new pinewood floors, an indoor garden bed, simple no-frills furniture, a collection of books for your enjoyment, and views out to sea. We purposely kept the saloni minimal in furniture. We provide two yoga mats, and more upon request, for those who'd like to use this space to practice. KITCHEN: The kitchen boasts a monolithic “mosaic-style” cement countertop, full oven, stove top, and ample storage space. We’ve provided a high-speed blender for those looking to cook meals at home, keeping in mind especially our vegan visitors. A full-sized fridge and washing machine is in the back nook. From here there are wooden steps leading up to the loft, which has a single mattress. The kitchen has iron-wrought windows and a separate door leading out to the terrace and outdoor eating table. The countertop has stools for casual indoor eating. (*Please note: there is no dining table inside*) There are also skylights that pull in even more natural light over the kitchen counter, and built in niches, shelves for various kitchen odds and ends. KITCHEN GOODIES: We provide basic starter ingredients such as certified organic olive oil from our friends in Peloponnesus, tahini, carob rusks, an array of spices, sea salt, espresso, Greek coffee, herbal teas, and Tinian honey. We also provide bio-degradable dish soap, fresh sponges, napkins, and dish towels.  BEDROOMS (THE CONCEPT): When redesigning the house, we decided to re-create the traditional Tinian bedroom layout with two small rooms in the cooler and shadier northern side of the house. This way, there is maximum privacy and a naturally cooler sleeping space, just as the locals had always designed for their homes. An experimental earthen wall separates the bedrooms, with stalks of reeds we harvested from Kolimbithra beach, packed with an earth-straw-sand mixture that provides excellent thermal mass, sound insulation, and old world beauty. The bedrooms also have iron-wrought interior windows looking out into the main living space. These interior windows were original openings in the house that we uncovered and decided to incorporate into the overall space. BEDROOM ONE: This bedroom is more like a separate wing of the house, with its own small corridor connecting the sleeping nook to its private bathroom. The sleeping nook is quite cozy, yet with a queen-sized natural latex mattress and a central earthen wall. There is a small window to the north and a ceiling fan, plus an iron-wrought window (w/ curtain for privacy) overlooking the saloni. The bed is custom-made, and feels 1/2 nest and 1/2 boat. The small corridor in the center is a no frills space with antique wall racks for clothing. BATHROOM ONE: The bathroom used to be both the old kitchen and the home’s in-built pigeon house, which we’ve converted here to a bathroom: primitive, small, and stunning all at the same time. The old kitchen chimney now houses the shower area, and we’ve added a skylight above to create an extra bit of light and Cycladic magic in the shower. The upper level of this space used to be a pigeon house built into the house, and we've re-opened the pigeon holes and added playful colored glass as an accent. BEDROOM TWO: This bedroom is off to the back of the kitchen, sharing the same earthen wall and cool climate as the other bedroom. It has a built-in double bed, with space for baskets below for belongings and a clothing rod in the corner. It also has a small window facing north and an iron-wrought interior window facing the saloni (w/ curtain for privacy). The bed is custom-made, with lots of extra nooks and crannies to explore. BATHROOM TWO: Directly across from this bedroom is a bathroom with local marble floor, mosaic tile shower, toilet, and window. We placed the sink directly outside the bathroom to gain a bit of space. LOFT: This is an extra sleeping space for one person directly above the kitchen, ideally for one child between 7-12. (Please note: the loft has an iron railing, but someone could potentially still fall from here. We can rope off the loft upon request. Otherwise, please use your common sense and be careful.) IS THIS HOME RIGHT FOR YOU? This home is NOT for everyone! But we trust it will delight those who are truly seeking it. This space carries much of our heart and soul, and so we are only open to renting it to visitors who truly value and respect it just as much as we do.  THIS HOME **IS** A MATCH IF YOU... ❤︎ crave inhabiting unique and idiosyncratic spaces ❤︎ love natural building, natural plasters, and natural light ❤︎ don’t mind crawling into a bed that feels like a boat/nest more than a hotel room ❤︎ feel delighted when unusual objects get a new lease on life ❤︎ enjoy going the extra mile for a beautiful, quiet spot in the village ❤︎ are scouting inspiring spaces to do creative or inner work ❤︎ care to feel the heart and soul of a home that you know you won’t find anywhere else ❤︎ want to experience a Tinian home versus just stay in one THIS HOME IS *NOT* A MATCH IF YOU NEED... ✘ AC ✘ car access ✘ limited steps ✘ a spot to party ✘ large bedrooms ✘ no ladders or balconies ✘ full indoor dining capacity ✘ an urban, conventional space ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ PST! If you’re searching for some of these things, our other property in Triantaros might be better fit. STORYTIME (if you've read this far, congrats!) This home is a dream come true for us, as we undertook the process of renovations, design, and resurrection. When we bought this home, it was certainly still standing, but the house had been terribly 'urbanized': all of its original stonework, including the main archway, was hidden behind thick cement plaster. All the home’s curvy, idiosyncratic lines and Cycladic origins were all but destroyed. So we took the chisel and got to work, inviting the home to finally breathe again behind all that cement. We listened to the space as much as we could to reveal its inner beauty while also reshaping its future function. Beyond the hundreds of hours of work that went into its renovation, were the countless hours of conversation, collaboration, experimentation, and inner growth that came with it. We took great care to design a space with utmost respect for the natural traditions and materials, while also allowing our own personalities to blend with the needs and wants of the home. Much of what we’ve incorporated into the home has been salvaged from the side of the road. We never sacrificed a detail for the sake of time or money, something that we believe can be felt in the space. Thanks for stopping by! ❤︎ Registration Details 00001162422
