Cosy Tinyhouse near Braga and Gêres National Park
Description
Casa das Valas, our tiny house on wheels, was designed for simplicity, offering the comfort of a traditional home in a compact, cosy format. Nestled in Northern Portugal, it's next to a majestic olive tree that’s over 1,000 years old, a living witness to time. The setting blends peaceful rural seclusion with easy access to river beaches, historic Braga and Ponte de Lima, and the wild beauty of Gerês National Park. A unique retreat for those seeking nature, stillness, and a simpler way of living. The space Inside Casa das Valas, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable, slow-paced stay in nature. Though compact, the space has been thoughtfully designed to include all the essentials of a traditional home, with a touch of charm and simplicity. The tiny house is fully equipped with a modern kitchen - stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, and all the utensils you might need to prepare your meals. The bathroom is bright and spacious, featuring a large, comfortable shower and a water-flushed toilet. Sleeping arrangements include two cosy mezzanine lofts, each with a double bed and futons made from a natural cotton and hemp blend, making it perfect for up to four guests. Because the house is designed with a focus on simplicity and connection to nature we've chosen natural materials wherever possible. The living room, with its inviting sofa, can accommodate one or two additional guests if needed, giving enough space to host up to 6 people in total. While the indoor space is fully equipped and already welcoming its first guests, the outdoor area is still a work in progress. The lawn and newly planted greenery are still settling in and growing, which is why we’re currently offering the stay at a reduced rate. That said, the charm of the outdoor space is already taking shape. A cosy stone table sits under a magnificent, millennia-old olive tree, right beside our orange and lemon trees. It’s a lovely spot for enjoying outdoor meals, working in the fresh air, or simply soaking in the peaceful, natural surroundings. And when in season, feel free to pick a lemon or orange straight from the tree for the perfect refreshment. Set in the Braga region, this tiny house is located in a peaceful rural area, far from the noise of the city but with quick access to many natural and cultural destinations: - Braga (city centre): ~17 km / 20 min - Porto city: ~83 km / 60 min - Porto Airport: ~75 km / 50 min - Ponte de Lima (historic centre): ~19 km / 20 min - Vilar das Almas River Beach (Ponte de Lima): ~4 km / 9 min - Faial River Beach – Prado (Vila Verde): ~8 km / 15 min - Amorosa Beach (Viana do Castelo): ~34 km / 40 min - Gerês National Park (main entrance): ~45 km / 45 min Casa das Valas is nestled in a truly rural environment, surrounded by green fields, dirt paths, and fresh air. And while you’ll feel a world away, local cafés, supermarkets, and restaurants are only a short drive away. Whether you’re a couple seeking peace, digital nomads craving focus, a small group of friends, or an adventurous family ready to embrace simple living without sacrificing comfort - this is your place. Guest access Next to the tiny house is a garage that belongs to Ivone’s father, Sr. Apolinário, where he keeps his agricultural tools and equipment. This building is not accessible to guests. From time to time, you might see Sr. Apolinário as he works in the surrounding fields or collects firewood. He’s a kind and welcoming presence, always happy to greet new people, and speaks Portuguese. Behind the tiny house, you’ll find the stone table next to the old olive tree that once belonged to the garage but is now available for our guests to enjoy. The entire outdoor area in front of the house is reserved just for you to relax, dine, or simply take in the peaceful environment. Other things to note If you book for 7 days or more we can offer you to join Ivone's yoga class on Thursdays. The tap water in the tiny house comes from a nearby well and is pumped to the house via a pressure pump. It’s natural groundwater, and we’ve been using it for washing, cleaning, and cooking without any issues. However, since it hasn’t been officially tested yet, we provide a large bottle of drinking water for your convenience until the drinking quality is confirmed. Due to the compact format of the house, ceiling heights vary and may not allow tall guests to stand upright in all areas. The bedrooms have low ceilings and are not tall enough for adults to stand, but they offer a cozy, private, and secure space for a good night's rest. In the main areas, the ceiling heights are as follows: - Shower: 203 cm - Bathroom (center): 193 cm - Kitchen: 194 cm - Corridor: 176 cm Please mind your head! Registration Details Exempt
