Dory

Dory is a charming cottage situated on over an acre of land nestled on the South Shore of PEI. You can walk from the cottage down to the shore (~500m) and when the tide is out you can meander over sandbars & tidal pools before meeting up with the ocean waves. It is just 20 minutes from Charlottetown and Rustico (a sea-side village where you can try deep-sea fishing) and 35 min from Cavendish (the home of Anne of Green Gables). The cottage is situated on an acre, allowing plenty of room for lounging, sport fun or sitting by a bonfire. It was built with comfort and relaxation in mind and to maximize the views of the Northumberland Strait. It is located within a short distance from a local convenience store, Bluegoose Quik-Way where you can catch up on the local news, pick up baked goods and a few groceries, or eat-in for a diner style breakfast. It is 10 minutes from Victoria-by-the-sea where you can explore artisans wares and stop in at the Lobster Barn or Casa Mias for some dining. This summer retreat has an open-concept kitchen/dining area, living room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer & dryer, large deck, and gazebo. The main floor living space has several large windows which create a bright and warm vacationing atmosphere with water views. There are several portable fans along with a ceiling fan in the living area. A heat pump which can be used for both heating and air-conditioning is installed in the main living space. The kitchen is fully equipped (including the extras: microwave, programmable slow-cooker, etc.) and provides a standing bar area for great conversations. The living room is furnished with comfortable seating (including a pull-out couch), and has direct access to the front deck and BBQ. There are two bedrooms with queen beds, one bedroom with four bunk beds and two full bathrooms (tub/shower). The cottage is located in Argyle Shore (central south shore) where you can enjoy our famous red sand beach. When the tide is out there are many tidal pools and miles and miles of sand beaches to explore and enjoy. When the tide is in there is still opportunity for beachcombing, lounging or walking along the water's edge. Our private beach has an estuary that meets at the waters edge where you can see wild orchids, many birds and enjoy the natural spring that feeds into the ocean. When you stroll back to the cottage you can rinse off in the outdoor shower (hot & cold water) and stretch out on the deck. It is only 20 minutes from Charlottetown and if you drive along route 19 you can find end-of-driveway farmer’s market stands (operating on the honour system). The town of Cornwall is 5 min away where you will find grocery stores, a liquor store, gas stations, pharmacy, bakeries, restaurants, and Tim Horton's. You will be centrally located easily able to slip out on route 13 through the rolling hills to get to Rustico for deep-sea fishing, or continue on route 19 to Victoria-by-the-Sea to experience a quaint artisan village. Cavendish is only 35 min away to experience Sandspit and Shining Waters amusement parks, Anne of Green Gables attractions, artisan shops, and more golf courses.
