Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space , we are situated in a rural village with a fantastic open outlook and only 9 miles from the centre of Edinburgh Please do remember this is a self catering airbnb. It was our home so still may have some personal items in the property . We are not a hotel or B&B. We do supply the basics to get you going We are situated in a small village . There is a bus service but it is a country service Border Bus 51 & 52 The space This is a 4 bed property set in a rural village of Whitehill, 1.5 miles from Dalkeith where you can find a range of shops and restaurants and takeaways The property is set over 2 floors with a kingsize bedroom with ensuite and a double bedroom with 4 ft bed and own bathroom on the first floor, further 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor along with large kitchen with breakfast bar and utility room with access door to garden, further large bathroom and living area with dining table offering great views out over the Firth of Forth In Dalkeith you can find a range of supermarkets Lidl Aldi Morrisons Tesco there are also a range of other shops and restaurants Good restaurants Tiger Lotus - lovely chinese which you can sit in or get a delivery from - 3 course set meals £21.95 SlumDog - Indian restaurant offering a buffet on Saturday and Sunday as well as menu service ( or take away) The Cavalier - Italian restaurant, offering both sit in and takeaway Good range of cocktails GiGi's - beautiful italian restaurant based in the town of Bonnyrigg The Sun Inn - based in Newtongrange, great breakfasts and food traditional throughout the day The Papermill - based in Lasswade, offering a more traditional menu Luci's - modern Italian restaurant again in Lasswade The Laird and Dog - fab Sunday luches There are loads of other restaurants in Edinburgh During the day the Borders Buses operates a bus through the village which will take you into Edinburgh. Walk up the village a few 110yds , cross onto the right and the bus stop is there . You will see it Eskbank has a train stop, you can park in the carpark, hop on the train and be in the centre of Edinburgh in 20 minutes There are many local taxi companies Midlothian Taxis's Abbey Cabs ABW cabs if you want to take a taxi Edinburgh Fort is 6 miles away Dalkeith is a great base for exploring the border towns of Kelso, Galashiels, Hawick , North Berwick Also within an hours drive, Stirling, Glasgow and Perth Places to visit Foxlake - a range of water based activities East Links farm - ideal for younger children Musselburgh - Harbour and beach Yellow Craigs - beautiful beaches Gullane - Beautiful beaches, coffee shops and restaurants Hillend - ski Centre Edinburgh Zoo Newtongrange mining museum Xtreme Karting - Newbridge, Edinburgh Please do remember this is a self catering holiday cottage . Having a car for your stay may be advantageous Guest access Guest have access to the full house, the attached double garage is used by the owner so please avoid parking in front of the garage doors as the owner parks here. Parking can be either in front of the house or on the street in front of the property As we are in a small village, consideration for the elderly neighbours is required. A 10 pm curfew on noise in the garden is asked for There is a pond in the garden, it has a fence around it for safety reasons, so we ask that you do not go past the fence There is also a gate in the fence, this is solely for the owners use to get in and cut the grass. Access beyond this gate into the owners garden is strictly forbidden Other things to note Whitehill Village is situated 9 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and is a convenient location for exploring the central belt ( the borders, Glasgow , Stirling , Perth ) to name but a few . The property is also located on a direct bus route into Edinburgh . The town of Dalkeith is a mile down the road with Tesco, Lidl and Morrison's for groceries , McDonalds is also situated next to Tesco . Fort Kinnaird is 5 miles away with a range of large stores ( Primark , M&S, TK Max, Boots, Next , JD Sports , H&M plus many more ) There are a range of restaurants in Dalkeith offering all sorts of cuisine . Gigi's restaurant in Bonnyrigg and The Stair Arms Hotel are recommended . It's a maximum of 6 guests ( no same sex party groups ) this is a family holiday home , so we usually only accept families but respectful workmen are welcome as long as there are no more than 2 vans Check in - 3pm Departure - 10am These times need to be strictly adhered to so my cleaner can get in and turn the place around for the next guests so your co-operation with this is greatly appreciated Bedding is provided , there is a washing machine in the house to enable you to launder the bedding if you require on longer stays. We also provide 6 bath sheets and 3 hand towels per stay . At the end of your stay of all beds can be stripped and towels and bedding left on the downstairs bathroom, thanks Owners stays in the village Please note this is a self catering holiday home , not a hotel or B&B. We provide some basic essential to get you going on arrival but after that it is self catering .
