The space YOUR PROPERTY Welcome to The Estate Oakenshaw, an exclusive countryside retreat near Durham offering two private homes on one peaceful 6-acre estate. Sleeping up to 16 guests, it’s ideal for family holidays, reunions, celebrations, hen & stag stays, pre-wedding stays, special birthdays, anniversaries and relaxed group getaways. Your group has exclusive use of both properties – The Residence, a beautiful 1852 stone farmhouse, and our handcrafted Finnish Log Cabin – giving everyone plenty of space to gather together while enjoying the flexibility and privacy of two separate buildings. 🏡 THE RESIDENCE – SLEEPS 10 The Residence combines traditional character with modern comfort, featuring exposed oak beams, wood floors, log burners, stylish interiors and generous bedrooms. There are two fully equipped kitchens, spacious living and dining areas and plenty of room for everyone to gather, making it particularly well suited to larger families and multi-generational groups. The cabin is also a fantastic entertainment space, featuring a pool table, retro arcade machine, bar area and huge retractable 83-inch screen. The conservatory provides additional living space and the entire side can be opened up, creating a fantastic indoor/outdoor area overlooking the countryside. The Log Cabin also has its own kitchenette with combination microwave/oven, double Ninja air fryer and hob, plus a covered outdoor BBQ which can be enjoyed throughout the year. Your first hot tub session is complimentary and we provide the wood, kindling, paper and firelighters. Each tub is fitted with a hot-water tap, allowing you to fill it fresh at a time that suits you. Once filled, simply light the fire and allow the water to heat. 🏠 HOUSE RULES • Strictly no pets • Please remove shoes in carpeted areas – shoe trays are provided • Please respect our peaceful countryside setting and neighbouring properties 📍 LOCATION Oakenshaw offers a peaceful countryside setting while remaining conveniently located for exploring County Durham. Durham City and Bishop Auckland are within easy driving distance, along with attractions including Auckland Castle, Kynren, Beamish Museum, Raby Castle, High Force Waterfall and the Durham Dales. 🗝️ OTHER WAYS TO STAY The Estate is part of The Barn Oakenshaw, with seven different booking options accommodating groups from 2 to 16 guests. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the entire Oakenshaw Estate for the duration of their stay. This includes The Residence, The Log Cabin, all private outdoor areas, landscaped gardens, woodland play park and all three private wood-fired hot tubs. The Estate is booked exclusively for your group, so there are no other holiday guests staying elsewhere on the property and no shared guest facilities. Enjoy the freedom of having the whole 6-acre retreat for your group to relax, celebrate and spend time together.
