Description

Our hikers' room is ideal for a cycling or hiking vacation, a few days or a weekend away. Wake up in the countryside, enjoy fresh eggs from our chickens or jam from fruit from our own garden. It has all the comforts - cozy, comfortable and completely sustainable. In addition, you can use the brand new common living/dining room with open kitchen and bathroom with toilet. We build and grow and love to share our special place! Will you come by? The space Around a monumental farm in Schalkwijk, we share the property with seven households. Different in composition, but with the same mission. Our goal is to take good care of each other, future generations and the earth. "Ons Dorpje Overeind" is an open and accessible place where everyone is welcome. We are socially involved, (re)building ecologically with an eye for nature and focusing on sustainability in everything. For a good idea of our entire project and what we do, take a look at our website! We will all have our own homes (later, when they are all ready), and in the heart of the village you will find "the Hay Barn," our central building that is there especially for all our guests. Inside: downstairs a common living room with open kitchen (free to use, all kitchen utensils are available) and a common bathroom and toilet. Please note: depending on our occupancy, you may have these for yourself, but if there are other (care) bookings, you will share all facilities with 1 to a maximum of 3 other (care) guests. We think it's really nice to just bring that together, in which everyone can always retreat to their own room. On the upper floor of the Hooischuur is the multifunctional room/meeting location (can be rented separately). The tractor room is your room and is called "Guus," after our goose. This is of course private - and comfortable, cozy and well cared for, with a double bed (2 separate 1 person beds that are against each other) with enough pillows, bedside tables, a wardrobe, a TV. The other 2 rooms are called Keet and Kato, after our pigs, and are for our respite care (substitute informal care) in which we offer people with a light care need who are dependent on informal caregiver a pleasant stay without a care atmosphere so that the informal caregiver has their hands free with peace of mind. Sometimes volunteers may walk in and out, but you may also have the accommodation to yourself. You may like to experience how life in our community goes and, for example, eat with the care guests, but you may also only want a breakfast (for 10 euros pppn to be booked separately) or just want to go your own way and explore the area. Maybe you want a tour of the food forest in growth or you prefer to just do your morning yoga in it yourself. Please contact us and ask us about the possibilities at that time! We are still exploring this ourselves and are happy to think along with you. Please note: we are still building our own houses and also the yard, and that is visible. The yard is really more of a construction site in some places, before we can make it a nice and well-kept place. But... the Hooischuur is completely neat and finished on the inside, and we are proud of that - and there are already plenty of nice, beautiful and quiet places to be found on the property (such as the flower garden, the orchard with sheep and chickens, the vegetable garden and the food forest in growth), where you can sit in peace and there is everything to discover. We invite you, especially in this phase of building, to come and experience how this place grows — with curiosity, hospitality and respect for nature and people. - Sustainable and ecologically built and nourished by sun, rainwater, animals, and our own vegetable garden and food forest. -The shared facilities are fully equipped: living room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet -Optional (ask us about possibilities and availability): tour in the food forest, breakfast, participation in communal meals when guests are present in the respite care. - Peace & nature: cycling and hiking trails nearby, it is wonderful to wander along - or swim in the floodplains of the Lek, get fresh fruit from all the stalls in the area, enjoy the peace and quiet and yet be centrally located (20 minutes by car from Utrecht). Guest access You have a private room (can be locked) and use of the common living/dining room, open kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The food forest is freely accessible, and you are more than welcome to watch the animals. For privacy reasons, our own homes and gardens are not open to the public, but everyone is hospitable and usually happy to give a tour upon request. We will meet you at check-in and explain everything, then it is self-explanatory. Your car can be parked in the yard. During your stay There is always someone from us present who can welcome you and who will do the check-in with you. We would like to coordinate this in advance. The Hay Barn is the common building, so it is possible that some people walk in and out from time to time. You can meet our volunteers there, or perhaps you will share the living room, bathroom and kitchen with a care guest who is also staying with us at that time. We live and walk with 12 residents and 3 children on and around the yard and are always up for a chat! Other things to note We are still building hard. It is nice to share this phase with visitors because we already have a very nice place! It is therefore possible that, outside the construction period and the weekends, there are sometimes some vans and (only during the day and not on weekends and holidays) some construction noise can be heard. We would therefore also love to hear your feedback and ideas about what we still need to think about and what still needs to be done! A complete breakfast can be booked separately for 10 euros per person per night!
