A romantic, slow escape on the Hawkesbury River, just an hour from Sydney, but a world away... The space Just steps from the sand, this peaceful boathouse invites you to slow down. Inside, a queen bed, natural linen, air-conditioning and heating. The lounge has a smart TV with Netflix. Your compact kitchenette has a mini-fridge, toaster, airfryer and stovetop complete with pots, pans and cutlery. Comfort without fuss. A restful escape for romantics, solo travellers, and nature lovers: wake to birdsong, swim with the tide, or simply let the river breeze do its work. Guest access You'll have full access to the Boathouse, including your own private bathroom and a secluded courtyard. Dangar Island is completely car-free, adding to its serenity and sense of escape. Most guests park at untimed spots near Hawkesbury River Marina in Brooklyn. From there, you have two options to reach the island: Brooklyn Ferry Service: Tap on with your Opal card (or credit card), enjoy the charming heritage ferry that shuttles between Brooklyn and Dangar Island wharf. Private Water Taxi: A fast and flexible option that brings you directly to the wharf, just be sure to book ahead. Once on the island, it’s a scenic 7-minute walk to the Boathouse via flat, tree-lined paths. Check-in is via smart lock. You’ll have pin code access so you can arrive at your own pace. Other things to note Basic Supplies All linen is supplied. You'll find butter, milk (soy and cow), juice, tea, fresh coffee, and basic pantry items ready on arrival, along with eco-friendly toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toilet paper) so you can pack light and relax. Wi-Fi & Streaming Fast, reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the Boathouse, along with a Smart TV and speaker equipped with streaming services (Netflix, Spotify). Local Bites A short stroll from the wharf, the Dangar Island Café serves up coffee, pastries, and daytime meals plus basic groceries and pantry essentials. For dinner and drinks, Dangar Island Bowling Club is open Thursday to Sunday with hearty meals, bar, and classic lawn bowls on the green. Fridge Space The Boathouse has a mini fridge suited for short stays. Planning a longer escape or arriving with extra provisions? Just let us know in advance, we have spare fridge in the laundry room accessible from the yard, and are happy to make it available on request. On The Water The Hawkesbury River is your playground. Whether you're into kayaking, bushwalks, fishing or picnics, there’s plenty to explore. If you'd like to borrow our kayaks, paddleboards, or life jackets, just let us know ahead of your stay.
