A romantic escape on the Hawkesbury River, only an hour from Sydney, yet a world away... The space Just steps from the sand, this peaceful boathouse invites you to slow down. Inside, a queen bed, natural linen, air-conditioning and heating. The lounge has a smart TV with Spotify for a sunset playlist and Netflix for a movie at the end of the day. Your compact kitchenette has a mini-fridge, toaster, airfryer and stovetop complete with pots, pans and cutlery. A BBQ is available to cook lunch out on the lawn with panoramic river views. Comfort without fuss. A restful escape for nature lovers: morning birdsong, stroll an often empty beach, watch the changing colours of untouched natural landscapes and let the river breeze restore you. Guest access You'll have full access to the Boathouse, including your own private bathroom and a secluded courtyard. Dangar Island is completely car-free, adding to its serenity and sense of escape. Most guests park at untimed spots near Hawkesbury River Marina in Brooklyn. From there, you have two options to reach the island: Brooklyn Ferry Service: Tap on with your Opal card (or credit card), enjoy the charming heritage ferry that shuttles between Brooklyn and Dangar Island wharf. Private Water Taxi: A fast and flexible alternative to get you here on your own schedule, or from a different departure point - just be sure to book ahead. Once on the island, it’s a scenic 7-minute walk to the Boathouse via lush tree-lined paths, a cart is available to ease any heavy luggage. Check-in is via pin entry smart lock. Other things to note Basic Supplies All linen is supplied. You'll find butter, milk (soy and cow), juice, tea, fresh coffee, and basic pantry items ready on arrival, along with eco-friendly toiletries in your private bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc) so you can pack light and relax. Wi-Fi & Streaming Fast, reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the Boathouse, along with a Smart TV and soundbar for streaming movies and tunes. Local Bites A short stroll from the wharf, the Dangar Island Café is open till 4pm and serves up breakfast, coffee, pastries and lunch as well as stocking pantry essentials. For dinner and drinks, Dangar Island Bowling Club is open Thursday to Sunday with hearty pub meals, beer on tap - pizza night on Thursdays alongside lawn bowls on the green. Fridge Space The Boathouse has a mini fridge suited for short stays. Planning a longer escape or arriving with extra provisions? On request, we have a spare fridge in the laundry room, accessible from the yard, available for your stay. On The Water The Hawkesbury River is your playground. Whether you're into paddle boarding, bushwalks, fishing or beach picnics, there’s plenty to do. Two paddleboards are beside the boathouse ready for you. Live Music & Local Events Check the Dangar Island Bowling Club website to see what’s on during your stay, from live music and barefoot bowls and trivia nights, it’s the island’s social hub.
