There are two local shops with limited opening hours, so please check availability and plan ahead to ensure you have all the essentials you need. There is a fuel station in the village but this can be pricey so always better to ensure you have plenty fuel on your arrival. Local restaurant at Smoo Cave, be sure to check opening times. Road conditions: Durness is in a rural location which has single track roads. Plenty of overtaking spots are available. We would ask that while you may want to take it easy and enjoy the scenic drive, please consider that locals and allow them to pass as they try to go about their day. Certain roads may require careful driving as there can be a lot of deer, and also take extra care in poorer weather conditions, especially in winter. Please be sure to bring warm clothing to accommodate your needs. Storm & power outages: Power cuts can be common in extreme weather, torches are available for such occasions and candles will be available underneath the stairs. Please take caution using candles. The house will maintain hot water when the stove is burning. 3. LOCAL SERVICES: Grocery shopping: Recently Tesco has introduced deliveries to the local collection point at Smoo Cave car park.
