Stay in this beautifully converted 2 bedroom Dovecote Cottage in the idyllic village of Chawton where Jane Austen lived. Converted from a 17th century falconry in 1993, the cottage is an annex to the adjacent Dovecote. It exudes charm and character with oak beamed ceilings and stone mullion windows, but with the comforts of modern living. It is located near Chawton House, where Jane Austen's brother lived, with lovely walks from the door through the parkland around the house. The space The open plan kitchen, living and dining is on the ground floor, with a wood burning stove in the heart of the room. A central wooden staircase leads up to a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a generous bathroom. Access is via a raised deck with an outdoor seating area. The garden in front of the cottage is for guests to use. Guest access Guests have their own front entrance accessed via 6 steps and a raised deck. There is also a rear entrance with 3 steps if required. Guests have use of the whole building, the front garden and parking for up to two cars. Other things to note Please note as this is an historic 17th century property, the floors upstairs are uneven and the stairs are unfortunately not suitable for those with mobility issues. The front door of the cottage is via 2 rounds of steps.
