Your private entrance begins at the grand front door and tiled foyer, tastefully screened from the main house. From there, a graceful spiral staircase leads you up to your own secluded retreat—a full 2,300 sq ft second-floor apartment, echoing the elegance of an old-world villa. The entire upper level is yours to enjoy in quiet comfort. EV CHARGING AVAILABLE 🚙 We have three level 2 Electric Vehicle Chargers. There is a one-time fee of $10 to cover our installation and electricity costs—and multiple charges with no additional payment are OK. NO PETS 😔 We love them & we apologize, but no pets or service animals due to host allergies. VIEWS You'll wake up to the sight & sound of the ocean right outside your main bedroom window. From there, and from multiple outdoor locations, you will find amazing long distance ocean views where the ever-changing horizon meets the sky. The outside decks, with views of coastal seascapes, rocky outcroppings and sandy beaches, have some great seating available. CLIFFSIDE OBSERVATION PLATFORMS There are more views from two cliffside observation platforms that are reach via well maintained stairs that lead down the side of the cliffs. CHECK-IN We'll send check-in information immediately after you book your stay with us, and someone on our team will meet you on arrival to show you where to park. BEDS There is a a queen bed in each bedroom. Your hosts provide a few extra blankets & pillows, too! BATHROOMS, SHOWER & Tub You'll have a full bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and a tiled shower and a half bathroom with toilet & sink. There are loads of extra towels and a few travel necessities such as feminine products, toothpaste, dental floss, shaving cream & safety razors. There is even a small sewing kit - which in fact saved a bride's dress one fine day! ROBES & SLIPPERS When you get up in the morning put on one of the freshly laundered robes with slippers provided by your hosts and relax into your day. KITCHENETTE Your large upstairs suite has a a mini-refrigerator, a toaster and a microwave oven, along with a pour-over coffee making system. A hot plate is available to warm up soup, cook eggs and such - but no aromatic foods please like bacon or fish. That is because the kitchenette does not have an exhaust vent for cooking odors. COFFE, TEAS & MORE The cupboards are stocked with great coffee and a large selection of top quality teas, plus makings for hot cocoa and hot cereals plus a few individually sized cold cereals. A few fun snack treats are also provided, along with juices, small bottled waters, half-n-half milkette creamers (single serving half-n-half's) for your coffee or tea, with an ice tray in the freezer section. DINING AREAS The unit has a table and chairs for meals - see pictures. There is also an outdoor dining area available that features a table with ocean views. WORK TABLE & WI-FI The table in the living room doubles as a workspace. You also have excellent Wi-Fi with good upload and download speeds. BOOKS & YOGA MATS There are books for children of all ages plus some thought-provoking books for adults, such as "The Four Agreements" and "The Power of Now". You'll also find a few yoga mats available in a cabinet if needed. CONNECT WITH NATURE There is no TV so in the morning plan to relax, read or take your coffee out to sit in one of the comfortable outdoor seating areas and enjoy the breathtaking views. Or you might want to consider exploring local beaches, seeing the redwoods or connecting with any of the many other outdoor adventures we'll tell you about when you book your stay. BEACH ACCESS We're located on a cliff directly above the beach with no current access down the side of the cliff to the beach below, but it is just a two minute drive to BEACH-LEVEL PARKING at Harris Beach State Park. SOUTH HARRIS BEACH South Harris Beach, which is one of the best ocean beaches on the Oregon coast, is even closer; it is just a ten minute walk or a one minute drive to get there. And it almost never has people on it because you have to walk down the side of a cliff on a paved path to get to it, and because very few tourists know about it. LONE RANCH BEACH Lone Ranch Beach with lots of tide pools with starfish and other sea life is a four minute drive north. HARBOR BEACH The magnificent driftwood covered beach at the harbor is just five minutes south. SECRET BEACH Secret Beach is wild and scenic and it's just a quick 10 or 12 minute drive north on US Highway 101. WHALE WATCHING Resident gray whales can be seen all year but they are more frequently spotted in the summer and fall when they feed closer to shore. We also have thousands more migrating whales along the Oregon coast every year, going south, between mid-December & mid-January and they start returning up the Oregon toward to Alaska every year in between late March and June. REDWOOD NATURE TRAIL Walking under the canopy of a redwood forest is like being in a natural cathedral. The mile long and quite walkable Redwood Nature Trail is just 9 miles away. And world famous Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park is just 22 miles south on US Highway 101. WILD RIVERS The Chetco River, with some of the best salmon runs in the world plus a lot of trout and steelhead, runs right through Brookings. And the cold waters of the Smith River, just a few miles south of Brookings, also has plenty of fish, especially salmon and trout. OCEAN FISHING Thee are well over a dozen ocean charter fishing companies and fishing guides available in the harbor just two miles south of our property. Guest access Guests have full access to everything in their suite and access to all outdoor areas of the property, including two side decks and two observation platforms, but nor the back deck because it opens onto the downstairs bedrooms. ELEVATOR The elevator is also available, if needed, to take you and your bags to the second floor. BACK DECK Please don't use the back deck because the downstairs bedrooms open onto it. CLIFFSIDE OBSERVATION PLATFORMS We have cliffside stairs that lead down to two cliffside observation platforms, both with amazing ocean views and with seating. You will have access to them. PARKING Parking is available inside our walled and gated property; one of us will show you where to park. The property gate is closed at night to keep deer out of the gardens. However, If your car leaks oil or other fluids please park in the gravel area just outside the property wall. Other things to note Caution Notice & Disclaimer: Your use of the property is entirely at your own risk and all guests are advised to use caution. Risks include but are not limited to the following: The property has walls & fences however it is located on a cliff above the ocean with associated hazards. Also, your suite has potentially slippery tiled floors & bathrooms that may be a fall hazard. Other potential hazards, such as falling while using the outdoor stairs, decks and observation platforms also exist. Your hosts disclaim any and all responsibility & liability for any and all on-property deaths or any injuries of any kind or nature whatsoever that you or your minor children or ward(s) may experience while on-property. Smoking: Please smoke off property, including vaping. Your hosts will on request provide a jar with a lid for smoking materials. Privacy: Guest privacy is absolutely respected at all times. ----------------------- ABOUT YOUR HOSTS – by Barbara Patrick & I were (and still are!) grateful & amazed at the good fortune that came our way when we acquired two 'diamond in the rough' coastal properties on the Southern Oregon coast that are right next to each other. Both sit on their own cliffside acre overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. We did not plan on being AirBnB hosts - it just sort of happened - but we are glad it did because we are always delighted to share these amazing properties with our guests. I was recently retired from a job in the medical field and Patrick had sold his large real estate office when, in March of 2019, we found the coastal property we now live in while we on a road trip through Southern Oregon. The large house that is now our home is much too big for just the two of us, so we offer the entire second floor as a vacation rental. It had been on the market 5 years as part of an estate sale when we bought it & it needed a lot of work, but we loved it the moment we saw it. **We made the best offer we could afford and our offer was accepted! The separate guesthouse that came with it became our first BnB. Then in 2022 our elderly & very kind next-door neighbor, a widower, decided to move to Portland to be with family. His circa 1950 house also needed a lot of work. We were experienced hosts at that point and we knew the location and layout were absolutely perfect for another BnB. **So Patrick worked out a deal with the seller that included some seller-financing and we bought that property & fixed it up to be another AirBnB with awesome ocean views. Our objective was to create a magical space where people can come to relax in quiet comfort with lots of privacy & stunning ocean views.
