Set away from busy roads, the cottage offers a peaceful rural retreat for families, groups of friends and professionals seeking a relaxing short or extended stay. It combines characterful accommodation and beautiful natural surroundings with modern comforts, including newly installed Starlink internet. One of the cottage’s standout features is its private balcony, where guests can relax in the outdoor seating area and enjoy far-reaching countryside and fell views. The rear garden provides further seating and a pleasant setting for outdoor dining, summer evenings or a BBQ. Please note that guests staying in the neighbouring middle cottage access their accommodation through part of Silverbirch’s garden, so this outdoor area is not completely private or secluded. Despite the remote setting, super-fast Starlink Wi-Fi allows guests to stream, work remotely and stay connected throughout their visit. The surrounding grounds include woodland, wetlands and three ponds, with the River Keekle also nearby. The area attracts a variety of wildlife, including birds, deer and occasionally otters. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but the peaceful setting provides excellent opportunities to enjoy nature. The cottage is approximately 200 yards from the Coast to Coast route and offers secure bicycle storage, making it particularly convenient for walkers and cyclists. Ennerdale Water is around a 10-minute drive away. Loweswater can be reached in approximately 35 minutes, with Crummock Water and Buttermere beyond. Longlands Lake is also nearby. Keswick and the north-western Lake District are approximately 25 miles away. The property is also conveniently positioned for professionals working near Sellafield, West Cumberland Hospital and Westlakes Science Park. Guest access Guests will have private use of the entire cottage, including all three bedrooms, the living areas, kitchen, bathrooms and private balcony. Guests may also use the rear garden and outdoor seating area. However, access to the neighbouring middle cottage passes through part of this garden, so other guests may occasionally walk through the outdoor space. Ample free private parking is available at the property. Secure bicycle storage is also provided for walkers and cyclists using the nearby Coast to Coast route. Full check-in and access instructions will be shared approximately 24 hours before arrival, once the required identity verification, rental agreement and £150 security-deposit pre-authorisation have been completed. Other things to note Before check-in, the booking guest must complete identity verification, accept our rental agreement and provide a refundable £150 security deposit through our secure guest portal. The deposit is processed separately as a card pre-authorisation. It may appear as a pending transaction, but the money is not normally taken from your account. It will only be charged where necessary following damage or a breach of the disclosed house rules or rental terms. The pre-authorisation is released after checkout when no charge is required. The time taken for the pending transaction to disappear depends on the guest’s bank. Full check-in instructions will be provided once all required pre-arrival steps have been completed. The cottage occupies a remote rural setting surrounded by natural terrain, woodland and three ponds. Children should be supervised outdoors at all times, particularly around the water, garden levels and surrounding grounds. Guests staying in the neighbouring middle cottage access their accommodation through part of Silverbirch’s rear garden. The garden remains available for Silverbirch guests but is not entirely private. Wildlife may be seen around the property, but sightings of specific animals, including otters and deer, cannot be guaranteed. VAT invoices are available upon request for business stays.
