Unwind at this unique and tranquil hideaway. Located less than 10 miles from Cornell and downtown Ithaca, you will be in off-grid and remote (limited to no wifi!) with a large pond (3/4 acre) perfect for swimming all summer and fall, and an epic view scape of rural upstate New York. Abutting a working farm, the cabin is perfect for nature lovers, birders, and romantic getaways. The space You will stay in an A-frame cabin with no electricity, plumbing, running water, heat or A/C and limited Wifi depending on your carrier (AT&T works, others do not). The space is NOT suitable for children or anyone with mobility impairments. Please note: we do everything we can to ensure a comfy stay. However, the cottage is very isolated in nature. There are bees, wasps and yellow jackets around and we cannot guarantee they won’t fly inside. At night you may hear frogs, peepers, crickets, roosters, birds and coyotes. During the day you may hear pigs, cows, chickens, dogs and children. The pond is large and great for swimming but it has a muddy bottom and natural plant growth along with bass and sunfish (we have a fishing pole!). Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for inclement weather or any inconveniences caused by natural conditions. The cabin contains: 1. A loft with a queen size mattress. There is a secure, wooden ladder to get up to the loft. 2 . The downstairs living space has a couch, a reclining chair and a small table. Please no food in the cabin. 3. Amenities: two battery operated fans, portable charger, many battery operated lights The kitchen space: 1. There is a kitchen shed next to the cabin (large step up to it) 2. Amenities: propane camping stove, Aeropress coffee maker, pots, pans, glasses, utensils, secure garbage, dishwashing water cooler The toilet is an outhouse, equipped with toilet paper, hand sanitizer and cleaned between each guest. The outdoor space: 1. Outdoor propane heated shower fed with filtered water from the pond (camp shower, partial setup required) 2. 3/4 acre pond with a floating, moveable dock, 2 large inner tubes and a small rowboat 3. Fire pit 4. Small BBQ grill 5. Uneven ground and a slope down to the pond Access: 1. Mowed grass driveway to a parking area 2. Walk in about 1/4 mi along a mowed path 3. Gorilla cart available to pull any luggage/cooler/etc 4. Solar lights along the path Guest access Guests have access to a 3/4 acre pond with a mowed path around it. There is a short mowed path to walk to a small, gravely beach. Please note that the pond abuts a working farm and the children on the farm occasionally swim in the pond. Other things to note (1) Recommended packing list: 1. Cooler with ice 2. Bug spray 3. Water shoes 4. Life vests (2) The pond is shallow for quite a distance, but does get deep. (3) You will be very secluded, but sharing space with birds, frogs, foxes, skunks, raccoons, and other woodland creatures. (4) Brookton's Market is 2.5mi away with wine, beer, breakfast, lunch, basic groceries and wifi.
