Even those self-aware city dwellers like some of our dear friends who, until now, didn’t quite get the non-hotel lobby vibe, have seen the green and realised nature is pretty damn cool. Set amongst the trees, Wilka Heathcote is far away from any other house or people or things – well actually, there are some cows nearby, but that’s it. And good news: we’re now dog-friendly, so your four-legged mate can enjoy the stillness too. Other things to note Heating and Cooling Expectations Our cabins are 100% off-grid and operate solely on solar battery systems, which requires mindful energy management to ensure a comfortable and reliable stay for all guests. Heating: is provided via an indoor wood-log fireplace, with all firewood, kindling, and fire-lighting equipment supplied. Please note that there are no air-conditioning or split-system heating/cooling units in any of our cabins, as our off-grid solar systems cannot support them. Cooling: our cabins are architecturally designed with four cross-ventilation window louvres within the cabins to promote natural airflow and passive cooling. Cooling performance may vary depending on weather conditions, and we make no exceptions during hotter days. As an off-grid, nature-immersed experience, guests acknowledge and accept that indoor comfort is influenced by environmental factors beyond our control, and we cannot be held responsible for weather conditions or personal comfort preferences related to temperature. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be directed to our guest app. Prior to check-in, you will be required to complete an identity check by scanning your licence/passport and credit card before being provided with your arrival instructions. This provides security for the owners of the property so they are comfortable that you are who you say you are and you have the documents to prove it (similar to a hotel check-in procedure). We do not charge your card, nor does it get stored by our system, and you are welcome to block out some numbers, but please note that our Guest App has the highest level of PCI compliance available. This process is necessary due to the fact that we have a self-check-in system.
