Margo Traditional House
Description
Margo House was built in 1938, its design influenced by late 18th century neoclassical Symian architecture, featuring intricate wood work, marble and original period furniture. It is located in the island’s charming main village Chorio, nestled just above Kali Strata - the most scenic and historical street of the island. The house is situated just off the main square, with direct access to the street (no steps) with shops, restaurants and the bus stop a short walk away. The space The house consists of three levels, meaning there are two wooden staircases. Two of the levels have exits onto the street. Other things to note It is important to note that Yialos (the port) and Chorio (the main village) are situated at different elevations. This may not be obvious when looking at a map of Symi. Margo House is located in Chorio, on the hillside above Yialos. Chorio is connected to Yialos by the Kali Strata on foot and of course by the main road by car/taxi/bus. Kali Strata is a picturesque pedestrian street that consists of both steps and flat landings whose vibrant houses and beautiful views along the way make it a must-see. While Yialos is known for its hustle and bustle, Chorio offers a peaceful neighborhood atmosphere with charming alleyways filled with shops and friendly locals, providing an authentic, immersive experience of Symi Island.
