Alberta Arts Garden Hideaway

We're two Portland craftspeople trying to keep the OG Airbnb experience alive by offering thoughtfully designed private guest suites out of our home/studio. This "tiny" backyard studio fits all the amenities you'll need for a delightful stay into a small but bright and airy retreat. French doors open onto a deck facing our sunny backyard filled with fruit trees and an organic kitchen garden, with the shops, restaurants, and unmistakable flavor of Alberta Street just steps away. The space At the rear of the main house, you’ll find your guest studio opening onto our sunny garden. We built this space to be as environmentally friendly as possible, maximizing the use of natural light and passive energy, and with a solar water system that feeds deliciously hot showers both indoors and out(!) in our custom cedar garden shower. (Don’t worry, we’ve still got a grid-tied water heater for those cloudy days!) We've packed a lot into a small space, with a cozy full size bed, counterspace with stools for meals or work, and a comfy hanging chair to curl up with a good book. Locally sourced sustainably harvested maple floors add warmth to the light-filled space, but we've added room darkening shades for peace while you sleep. The simple kitchen is outfitted with everything you need, but with amazing dining steps away on Alberta Street, we doubt you’ll want to eat in! There’s a small fridge for supplies, and a microwave for the leftovers that will undoubtedly come home with you. And of course there’s a stock of fresh organic coffee, coffeemaker and french press for late nights and early mornings. Also provided are a toaster oven and single burner cooktop with basic cooking supplies. (Sorry no full-size oven/stove.) Check out the "house manual" in the unit for a guide to the city and plan your adventures — we’ll have lots of recommendations — or craft a wellness retreat with an appointment at Cascada's thermal springs and spa across the street. Guest access Guests access the unit via the house driveway. Walk to the rear of the house and you will see the deck and steps to the unit. A lockbox with a code is available for self check-in. Other things to note Our home is in the heart of the city and nearby Alberta Street is a bustling road for walkers and cars. The pub next door is a respectful neighbor and they often feature live music -- sometimes you can hear it from the Airbnb. (Wednesday and Sunday nights feature outdoor music but they are wrapped up by 10pm). We are also working artisans and have a small workspace on site, so there is the potential for some tool noise during the day. If you're sensitive to the noises of the city, this might not be the best spot. If you want to park and wander into fun -- this is the place to be! Registration Details 18-100996-000-00-HO
