Description

Experience the real Alaska on a private stretch of the Little Susitna River located on our off-grid homestead in scenic, historic Hatcher Pass, Alaska. This is gold country. A few miles upstream, visit the historic Independence Mine. At the river’s edge, enjoy private gold panning station. From the comfort of your camp chair, a private river’s edge deck offers views of the river and the mountains. For privacy, the area is gated and fenced in. Parking is available for up to two vehicles. The space Experience the real Alaska, up close and personal, on a private stretch of the Little Susitna River located on our off-grid homestead in scenic, historic Hatcher Pass, Alaska. This Alaskan river is teeming with life. During salmon season, watch King salmon fighting the rapids on their way to their spawning grounds. Observe the American Dipper—the world’s only aquatic songbird, raising their young on this section of river, where they too, have chosen this beautiful site to build their home. A prominent Cottonwood tree towers within view just outside of your living room window where we’ve seen ravens, bald eagles, and Great-Horned owls using it as a hunting platform. There are daily sightings of Mergansers, Harlequins, and King Fishers, as well as occasional Common Loon sightings. Binoculars are provided, allowing you to spot bigger game: black bear, brown bear, moose, and believe it or not, the majestic Alaskan Dall Sheep. This is gold country. A few miles upstream, visit the historic Independence Mine, where 34,000 ounces of gold was mined over nine years. While developing this pristine section of the Little Su, the first shovel full of dirt yielded two flakes of gold. At the river’s edge, enjoy a gold panning station. We dredged the river, stockpiled the dirt, and are happy to let anyone who gold pans keep all the gold you can find; you WILL find gold. Gold Fish sign is dirt for gold panning!!!! From the comfort of your camp chair, a private river’s edge deck offers views of the river and the mountains and features a propane grill. In the area behind the viewing deck, you’ll find an outdoor space with a fire ring (firewood is provided, so please, no cutting of limbs or trees on our property). In Alaska, septic systems are illegal along waterways, especially a river with prestigious, migrating King salmon, thus, a clean, professionally serviced porta potty is on-site for sanitation. For privacy, the area is gated and fenced in. Parking is available for up to two vehicles. Although this is an off-grid experience, our 26-foot RV generator/battery systems provide adequate lighting, heat, and potable water. Wasilla and Palmer are located less than 12 miles away and a gas station/laundromat/food is less than 1.5 miles away. All I’ve ever really wanted is to live like an Alaskan should live, and living on this river has fulfilled that dream. Come experience the real Alaska at Marty Raney’s Airbnb: The River. Guest access Entirely private, fenced-in location. RV with deck on the river. BBQ grill, fire pit, camp chairs, and picnic table are provided. Other things to note This location near the river’s edge has porta potty provided. No septic system near the river. Clean & sanitary! Potable water provided.
