Description
Relax in a modern home on our 20 hectare (50 acre) working organic farm just a few miles south of the Edinburgh city bypass. The apartment includes 3 rooms with a private external entrance and a locked internal door if needed. The single bedroom is ensuite; the other main room is a living space with a kitchenette and large sofa bed. We are close to the route south / north too and from Edinburgh but far enough away (1.5km) to not get interrupted by road / traffic noise. The space The house was built by us (completed in 2025) to a high insulation spec and to take advantage of all modern passive design features. There is no gas, oil or other fossil fuels used to heat the apartment. Our home is very warm with underfloor heating throughout powered by over a km of geothermal pipe in our fields then fed into a ground-source heat pump. The 30 solar PV panels and batteries provide all the power, with back up from the grid, but we're already finding that we send more to the grid than we take back. We designed the house to be light and the rooms to be spacious (all bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms) partly from our past experience in letting out rooms in previous properties. Guest access The apartment should have all you need. Please also make use of the external space near your entrance as it's private from the rest of our house. The remaining 20 hectares (50 acres) of our fields and trees is also available for you to roam around as is the neighbouring countryside. We have many sheep and cattle farms nearby so please ensure all dogs are kept under control at all times, preferably on a lead.
