Other things to note FIRE SAFETY PLAN (In Compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, Subsection 2.8.2) To ensure the safety of all guests by providing clear instructions for fire prevention, evacuation, and emergency response. RESPONSIBILITIES OF GUESTS Familiarize yourself with all provided fire safety information. Be aware of the location of exits, fire safety equipment, and meeting points. Follow the instructions outlined in this plan immediately in the event of a fire or alarm. IDENTIFICATION OF EXITS & EQUIPMENT Exits: There are two main exit doors—one at each end of the unit. Upon Arrival: Locate both exit doors so you can evacuate quickly if needed. Fire Alarm System: The unit is equipped with a functioning smoke alarm that will sound in the presence of smoke. Treat every alarm activation as an emergency. Carbon Monoxide Detectors: The unit contains CO detectors as required by the Ontario Fire Code. If the alarm sounds, exit the unit immediately, then call 9-1-1 from outside. Fire Extinguisher: A fire extinguisher is provided for small, contained fires (e.g., cooking flames). Only use it if you are confident and it is safe to do so. The extinguisher is located under the kitchen sink. ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN THE EVENT OF FIRE If You Discover a Fire: Alert others immediately by shouting “Fire!” Do not attempt to fight large fires. Your priority is to evacuate. Evacuation Procedures: Leave the unit via the nearest exit door. If smoke is present, stay low to the ground where the air is clearer. Close doors behind you to help contain fire and smoke. If the Fire Alarm Sounds: Treat it as a real emergency. Evacuate immediately using the nearest exit. Once Outside: Move to a safe location away from the building. Call 9-1-1 to report the fire if not already done. Provide the address and information about anyone who may still be inside. Do not re-enter the building until the fire department gives the all-clear. FIRE EXTINGUISHER USE (ONLY IF SAFE) P.A.S.S. Method: Pull the pin. Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire. Squeeze the handle. Sweep side-to-side until the fire is out or you must evacuate. If you are unsure or the fire is spreading, evacuate immediately. EMERGENCY CONTACTS Emergency (24/7): Dial 9-1-1 MAINTENANCE & TESTING Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers are inspected and tested regularly as per Ontario Fire Code requirements. Guests are not required to perform tests but should report any malfunctioning or damaged fire safety equipment to the host immediately. This Fire Safety Plan will be reviewed periodically and updated as necessary. Registration Details STR-2405-HZXKVZ
