The space 🌿 **Maison Nel(le) Botanique** 🌿 Maison Nel(le) Botanique is a stylish townhouse dating from 1863, located in the heart of Mechelen in the street where artist Rik Wouters and his muse Nel lived in the early 20th century. The building was sustainably renovated in 2024 with respect for its historical character and modern comfort. The residence combines a calm botanical atmosphere with a central location within walking distance of the train station, offering fast connections to Antwerp, Brussels and other university cities. Several campuses of Thomas More in Mechelen are also within walking distance. Maison Nel(le) Botanique exclusively offers mid-term academic stays for international students, interns, researchers, guest lecturers and visiting academics looking for a stylish, quiet and worry-free living environment during their stay in Belgium. The building features seven unique studios, each with its own character and animal theme: Moose Mountain, Whisker Woods, Monkeytown, Lion’s Lair, Badger Hill, Fancy Fox and Bunny Burrow. All studios include a private bathroom, private kitchen, comfortable beds, flat-screen TV and plenty of natural light. On the ground floor, guests can enjoy a cosy shared lounge and terrace. Large windows, solar control window film and blackout curtains help keep the building bright, cool and comfortable. Several parking options are available for guests, including the free parking area “De Loods”, located about a 10-minute walk away. Guest access Guests of Maison Nelle Botanique gain access to the building through a convenient and secure system. Upon arrival, they can open the front door by entering a code on a keypad. Additionally, each studio has its own key box, which can also be opened with a personal code. Both codes are provided to guests on the day of arrival, allowing them to easily and independently access both the building and their studio. Other things to note For every stay, each guest is provided with a linen package including bed linen, large and small towels, a bath mat and a kitchen towel. For stays longer than 14 days, the studio is cleaned every two weeks on Monday according to a fixed rotation schedule. Fresh linen is also provided during each cleaning service. Guests will receive a digital welcome guide with practical information, house guidelines and useful local tips.
