A 3 bedroom 2 bath home in Hiouchi, CA situated IN the Redwoods and ON the bank of the Wild & Scenic Smith River- the cleanest river in the United States. Hiouchi (Hy YOO Chee) is just 12 minutes to the Pacific Ocean and Crescent City, CA the halfway point between San Francisco and Portland, situated in the very heart of the Redwood Forest. Redwoods On The River is your rustic getaway with a touch of luxury. Relax and soak-in the redwood forest from the back yard. Forest bathing is real. And really relaxing. The majestic redwoods and emerald green river make this property a truly unique and tranquil getaway. PLUS, you have access to a semi-private trail leading to a sandy beach enjoyed by only a handful of neighbors. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing and soaking up the river life. Kayaks, floaties, towels and picnic basket provided during River Season *Typically Memorial Weekend through late September pending weather. Note: Swim/Kayak at your own risk With 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed (twin over full) and 2 air mattresses, this home is perfect for a couple's getaway, single family vacation or 2 couples with kiddos! Maximum of 7 guests including kiddos. These are the NO's: NO events. NO parties. NO pets. NO smoking/vaping. The front yard provides a large fenced in area for cornhole, games and running space for the kids. The back yard is forest magical! You don't have to walk TO the forest. You're already there. Adirondack chairs and a gas fire pit. Pub height gathering table with fire feature. Two locally sourced redwood picnic tables for dining. Patio sofa and chairs and complete gas BBQ set up. Note: Your littles should not be left unattended in the back yard, as it sits on the bank of the river. Inside: Unobstructed views of the redwoods from the floor to ceiling windows in the main living space creates the perfect redwood retreat. The super comfy down cushion sofa sectional and corner reading nook invite you to relax and curl up with a good book or watch your favorite show on the swivel wall mount TV. Games, cards, puzzles and books are provided for your enjoyment inside. Outside, try your hand at cornhole or Giant Jenga. And, in the garage there's a ping pong table, lawn games, beach gear and full laundry facilities. Bedroom one is the larger primary suite, upstairs, with a tall boy Queen Bed, two leather recliners for reading or watching TV. All weather chairs are outside on the viewing deck. There's also a Keurig Coffee maker in the primary suite so you can enjoy that morning coffee and sunrise without going downstairs. The primary also has a spa style walk in shower with river rock tile and glass doors (similar to downstairs) and double vanity. There's also a walk in closet. Bedrooms one and two are upstairs with an incredible river view. Both rooms have a slider out to the viewing deck. A great place for morning coffee and river watching. Bedroom two is great for the kids. Twin over full bunk bed and reading chair. There's also an extra Englander blow up twin size bed with bed linens and extra pillows and blankets. There's a child safety lock on the slider to the balcony. Bedroom three is a downstairs primary suite with a super comfortable Queen bed, quality linens and lots of plush pillows and throws. The large bath offers a walk in river rock tiled shower with glass doors, corner seat, giant rain head and hand wand. There's a double vanity with plenty of light. In the closet, you'll find an extra queen size air mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows and vacuum cleaner. If you like to cook, enjoy the fully equipped kitchen and outdoor gas BBQ with plenty of seating inside and out. Dining Table seats 6 with additional chairs and a bench for extra seating. There are 4 bar stools at the kitchen bar. Outside on the patio, there's an awesome round pub style table with fire feature and 6 chairs. We also have two locally sourced redwood picnic tables for outdoor dining. Safety: Two fire extinguishers, fire blanket and first aid kit are on the wall in the garage as you exit the kitchen. After hiking, exploring and enjoying the Redwood National and State Park, end your day at the gas fire pit, kicking back on those red adirondack chairs. Enjoy a S'more or two! For families with littles, we have a baby gate, high chair and Graco playpen. So many nature adventures and home amenities- you'll want to come back for another visit and stay a bit longer at Redwoods On The River. Guest access Key Pad Access. Same process for locking. Redwoods On The River is a whole house rental. Feel free to enjoy the inside and out. We simply ask that you leave the property as you found it. We want you to make unforgettable memories in the redwoods and on the river. There's a section of the garage that's clearly marked as the owner's closet and one locked supply closet inside the house. If you need extra supplies, call or text Host Rene'-she's super responsive. Other things to note Your Redwood Adventure Awaits! This property is perfect for forest bathing, hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking or just chilling in the majestic forest. You are literally IN the redwoods ON the river! This property is all about the serenity of nature. It is in a private community of 5 homes and is not open for events or parties. Maximum 8 guests with no more than 3 vehicles. Exploring? You are minutes away from the best hiking and walking trails in the Redwood National State Park including the iconic Grove of Titans, Stout Grove, The Boy Scout Trail, Jedediah Smith State Park and more. Hiking maps are available in the home and the Hiouchi Visitor's Center is exactly 1 mile away off highway 199. Hiouchi Recommendations? The Hiouchi Cafe (serving the BEST diner breakfast in the county) is within walking distance at just a half mile away. Open daily 7a-2p. Tip: Order the giant 16 inch pancake topped with fresh berries! It's served on a pizza platter. The Hiouchi Hamlet is across the street from the Cafe and offers a small deli, snacks and grocery staples. There's also a Chevron Gas Station next to the Hamlet. Again, all within a half mile. Golf? Del Norte Golf is exactly 4 miles away on Hwy 197. A great 9 hole course in the redwoods. For recommendations within a short drive, please see our GUIDE. There's lots to explore outside of the Parks! The Pacific Ocean and Beaches from Crescent City up the coast to Brookings and Gold Beach Oregon. Lighthouses. Museums. Two local breweries in Crescent City.
