The Magpie Cabin · Big Horn Views & Ranch Stay

Description

Located just 13 miles from Sheridan right off a paved highway, the Magpie Cabin is a cozy, modern getaway on a horse ranch. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets and the authentic feel of ranch life. The cabin includes all of the modern amenities needed to make your stay comfortable (minus a dishwasher). Step onto the porch to possibly see wildlife and horses graze nearby; you might even spot a cowboy training horses right outside! It's the perfect location to stay while you visit the Sheridan area! The space Just 13 miles from Sheridan, this private two-bedroom cabin feels like its own world—quiet, scenic, and made for couples or travelers craving true Wyoming stillness. Set in the rolling foothills with sweeping views of the Bighorn Mountains, it’s the kind of place where mornings start slow, wildlife wanders by, and evenings end under a sky so bright with stars it barely feels real. Deer graze nearby, ranch horses drift through the pasture, and wild turkeys sometimes stroll right across the porch. Inside, everything is curated for comfort and connection. Both queen bedrooms sit on the same level and feature crisp white luxury linens and blackout curtains for deep, restful sleep. The living room’s gas fireplace, modern seating, and fast Starlink WiFi create a cozy space for movies, reading, or unwinding after a day in the mountains. The kitchen has everything you need to cook together—from simple breakfasts to dinner by candlelight—with a Keurig for effortless mornings and a dining table ready for slow, lingering meals. The bathroom is clean and modern, and a full laundry setup makes longer stays easy. The covered patio is where most guests spend their time: sipping coffee as the sun rises over the Bighorns, sharing wine at sunset, or stargazing under one of the darkest skies in the region. With zero light pollution, the Milky Way is visible almost every clear night. Access is simple with paved roadways and a short gravel drive. Winter stays are beautiful but may require AWD or higher clearance. Though the road is occasionally used by the landowner who lives further uphill, the cabin itself is completely private—quiet, tucked away, and peaceful. Whether you’re planning a romantic weekend, a quiet solo reset, or a scenic home base for exploring Sheridan and the Bighorns, this cabin offers the kind of experience guests remember long after they leave: serenity, views, and true Wyoming warmth in an unforgettable setting. Guest access Guests have full use of the cabin, its private driveway, and the small yard surrounding it (please note: the fence is a livestock fence, not pet-proof). You’re welcome to park directly in front of the cabin. This is a working horse training ranch, so you may see horses or ranch activity nearby. If you’d like to explore the hills or cross any fences, please check with us first. For everyone’s safety, please don’t feed the horses or wildlife. Other things to note This cabin offers a genuine Wyoming ranch experience, which means a few quirks come with the charm: • Water: The cabin is on a private well. The water is completely safe but carries the natural taste and odor of well water, especially if the system hasn’t been used recently. We leave some bottled water for guests who prefer it for drinking. • Heating & Cooling: The propane-fed fireplace provides cozy heat during colder months — we ask that it’s only used seasonally. For everyday comfort, the mini split units can be controlled with the remotes mounted near each wall unit. • Weather & Access: Wyoming weather can be unpredictable. After storms, snow removal at the cabin isn’t immediate, and the access road may remain snowy or slick for a while. AWD/4WD vehicles are strongly recommended in winter. • Nature: This is a true cabin-in-the-hills setting. Insects, moths, and even the occasional snake are part of the environment. Moth traps are maintained in the loft area (not accessible to guests), but you may still notice some during the hotter months. • Septic System: To keep the septic system in good working order, please flush toilet paper only — nothing else.
