CABIN IS OFF GRID solar powered and a small inverter You need ice in summer for your food there is a cooler at cabin. Ice available in Lanark at Pretty Goods if you don’t want to transport all the way from home. Your cabin sits on a big pond. The cabin is a new build of timber framed construction. It is well insulated and inside is lined in cedar boards all cut from the our and the neighbours property. Heated with a gas fireplace when it starts to cool with a rocking chair in front to cozy up to. All the kitchen amenities are available- complimentary coffee, tea and single serve condiments mustard, ketchup, jam and peanut butter. There are 2 coffee presses in kitchen and a stove top toaster- you only have to bring your food! There is a propane cook range with oven, a BBQ on front deck and a small blackstone grill for fast dinner and a great breakfast You will be supplied with fresh drinking water in 5 gallon jugs that sit above sink in the kitchen and jugs of water for dishes and cleaning, more always available if needed. The cabin is off grid battery powered with solar for lights and inverter for charging laptops There's cell signal at cabin streaming is unreliable The cabin is preheated in cold months for comfort when arriving from walk in It has a battery rechargeable fan in warmer months NO air conditioning off grid cabin Bed is made up with fresh linens every new stay and a heavy fleece blanket on end of bed provided Wake up to a beautiful sunrise view of the pond. You will get lots of birds at the feeder and deer coming in the evening- lots of turkeys in winter Ducks in spring summer and have had trumpeter swans. Lots of other native wildlife on owls, grouse, raccoons squirrels and 3 types of woodpeckers. The campfire pit is on edge of pond with a morning view of sunrise and evening view of moonrise. If there is no fireban in place there is wood for campfire on site, paper and kindling .Campfire chairs and picnic table available for use. A screened in gazebo during warmer weather months And a cedar outdoor shower heated with propane burner and rechargeable pump IN NON FREEZING conditions -April to November -weather dependent. I leave 2 - 5 gallon pails of water for it Lanark village is only a short drive away with a general store Pretty Goods /LCBO /gas station and a breakfast and lunch served at village treats. There is also fritz chip stand on the corner (ice for cooler can be purchased at Pretty Goods or Balderson cheese store) The cabin sit on 50 acres with of walking trails to hike on and are groomed when snow is deep enough. Please bring good boots, trails rocky when not covered in winter. Insect repellent for bugs and possible ticks in warm weather would be useful items. Guest access full access to property and trails on property parking at end of driveway for your car and it’s a 4 /5 minute walk too cabin Transport of belongings on request with trailer and ATV Other things to note The cabin is a 5 to10 minute walk from where you park. The trails are marked with driveway markers and arrows.
