Description
Watch the light filter through the branches above your hammock, feel the stream flow cool over dangled toes, hear the steam trains puff down the line, smell the marshmallows toasting over the firepit, clamber into your flying hammock tent among the trees and doze off to the hoot of owls. This is a unique space, ideal for the wilder human. You’ll be climbing into the waist-high tent, with a step to assist you. Heat water on the wood oven for your ‘bower’ shower. The space You’re very much in nature here, right by the stream and in a rare pocket of Sussex wet woodland. The ground is uneven, although we have laid paths, and climbing into the tent might not be for everyone. Bringing a sense of fun and adventure will help you enjoy your stay. We expected this to be a pretty ‘Marmite’ experience, but the feedback so far has been amazingly positive. Guests have said they slept well. That said, it may be that not everyone will get on with the feeling of sleeping suspended in the air. Wealderness is a quiet and secluded twenty-five acre area of meadow, hedgerow and streams in a part of the Weald to Waves rewilding habitat corridor. You’ll very much be away from the hubbub - this site offers a secluded corner to escape to. A short stroll from the tent is the WiFi hot spot in the nearby Reading Room. Guest access The camps and pitches on site are well spaced out to ensure guests can enjoy peace and seclusion. The retreat space is shared. Here you are welcome to sit under the stretch tent on straw bales or get online in the pony trailer ‘reading room’. Other things to note Wealderness is all about enjoying the serenity of the surroundings in nature. It’s best suited to couples. Because there is a stream and also livestock on site we can’t guarantee the safety of younger children and therefore only accept bookings for guests aged 14 or over.
