"Amanita" Tiny Cabin on Beach Pond Shore w/Sauna
Description
Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape with amazing lake views. Welcome to our newest addition! "Amanita" takes tiny and cute to a whole new level. At just 8' x 12' this tiny space has everything you need for a relaxing lakefront getaway. Wake up to stunning views of crystal clear Beach Pond just steps from the cabin. Take an early morning swim or paddle in one of our kayaks. Then sooth sore muscles in our wood-fired traditional Finnish Sauna. Then enjoy an evening lakeside campfire. The space Our family has run this little oasis in the forest since the early 1960's. North Shore Woods has 7 acres of heavily wooded land directly on the shore of beautiful Beach Pond. We have 375 feet of private waterfront, as well as a large beach area. The upper part of the property is home to our non-profit Trails End Equine Retirement where we care for elderly horses and a few of our personal horses. The lower part of the property is home to our 3 cabins, 3 RV spaces, my parents' summer home, and our personal home. We also have a 10-person wood fired traditional Finnish sauna in use year-round right on the lakeshore. Amanita is our newest addition, and we are so excited to share it with you. Here are some important things to note about your stay: Amanita is very tiny! It is meant for two people only. However, we would allow a child or toddler to stay if they can sleep on the sofa. Please inform us if this is the case. The listing says 3 people, but 3 adults would be VERY crowded in the space. Amanita does not have a shower in the cabin. The shower is a short walk away in the sauna building. The toilet is meant to be a middle-of-the-night or emergency toilet only. It uses a waterless vacuum system which is quite expensive. We would like guests to mostly use our beach area outhouse, which is lovely, clean and only a short walk through the woods. Amanita is located directly on the shore of a public lake. Usually, the lake is quiet during the day, however summer nights and weekends can be loud with jet ski's and boats. This is part of lake life and is usually short lived. We can make no guarantees about the traffic on the lake at any given time. There is also lot of fishing on the lake. You may hear fisherman talking at night as they troll past the cabin. Please Note: We have been getting an increasing number of requests for 2 overnight guests, but large groups of day guests. We can no longer allow day guests. This isn't fair for us to clean up after large groups of non-paying guests. If you are interested in hosting a family BBQ, birthday party, etc. please speak with us in advance about booking one of our larger cabins. You will hear fireworks almost every night in the summer. Usually, it's just a few. On holidays and weekends, it can be more. Near the 4th of July, there are a LOT. Amanita is in a heavily wooded area. There will be bugs, critters singing, owls hooting, and foxes yipping. Enjoy nature at its finest. It's rarely silent. This is not a secluded space. You can see our neighbor's gazebo and dock as well as our beach area from the cabin. It's very dark here and that's the way we like it. We try to light the path to the parking area and will leave the cabin lights on for you. But please expect darkness and be prepared. This is not the city and there are no streetlights. Arriving during daylight hours is strongly recommended. Amanita is Tiny! Don't overpack or you will be crowded. We sell firewood for $5/bundle and you may always burn deadwood for free that you find on the property. That helps us clean up! There is a firepit near the cabin. Amanita has a microwave, tiny fridge, hot plate, drip coffee pot, basic utensils and dishes. The bed is full size. There is a charcoal grill and the firepit also has a grate for cooking. Please bring your own charcoal or it can be purchased in our camp store. There is heat in the winter. There is no AC. 3 of the windows open and there is a fan for ventilation. There is often a lovely breeze on the waterfront. The sauna is in use year-round. Its wood fired and takes a few hours to heat up. Just let us know and we're happy to prepare it for you. Notes about winter camping in Amanita: After November 1st, the water in the sink comes from a 5 gallon storage tank and is operated by a foot pump. The hot water shower is available year round in the sauna building. The outhouse is also heated with a luxurious heated toilet seat! (The sink water in the outhouse is turned off in the winter.) Guest access Guests are welcome to wander our entire property. All the amenities on the property are shared amongst our cabin and RV guests. Guests are welcome up to the barnyard to look at the horses. No guests allowed IN the barn or paddocks. The fence is electric so do not touch it. Your reservation includes use of non-motorized watercraft; Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and Moby Duck, our duck shaped peddle boat. Life jackets are provided and required. Other things to note Our property is located in a rural area. Although we do have Uber out here, please plan ahead. It can take an hour or more for an Uber driver to arrive here. It's not 5 minutes like the city!
