The space ### The Space Escape to our handcrafted Finnish log cabin, a unique retreat tucked away on a private estate in Oakenshaw. This bespoke cabin, built from slow-grown Nordic pine, is a magical escape where nature, design, and tranquillity meet. It's the perfect setting for couples or families seeking a luxurious, nature-filled getaway with soul. Inside, you'll find a space that is both an entertainment zone and a peaceful sanctuary. Enjoy the warmth of underfloor heating and admire the unique artisan touches throughout. Challenge your family to a game on the pool table, enjoy the retro arcade machine, or settle in for a movie night with the retractable 83-inch screen. The cabin also features a breakfast bar area, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Your kitchenette is equipped with a combination microwave (which includes a small oven), a double Ninja air fryer, and a stove. An outdoor BBQ is also available for your use, and because its covered you can use all year round. Please be mindful that there is no conventional oven inside the log cabin. ### Guest Access You will have exclusive access to the entire log cabin and its private patio area and conservatory, including the wood-fired hot tub. As the cabin is located on our family's private estate, you may occasionally see us or our children in the shared outdoor grounds. ### The Neighbourhood Our cabin offers a serene escape with stunning countryside views, all while being conveniently located just 7 miles from the historic Durham City. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of our private estate, knowing that the shops, restaurants, and sights of Durham are only a short drive away. ### House Rules To ensure a comfortable stay for everyone, we ask that you observe a few simple rules: * Strictly no pets are allowed. * Please remove your shoes on carpeted areas. Shoe trays are provided by the main door for your convenience. * Your first use of the wood-fired hot tub is included with your stay. If you wish to reheat the tub for another session, a £25.00 charge applies. You can easily pay by scanning the QR code on the Hot Tub Reheat Box. ### Important Information **Sleeping Arrangements:** Please be aware that the elevated sleeping lofts are accessed via ladders. This setup may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility, very young children, or anyone who prefers ground-level sleeping. If you have any concerns, please ask us for more details before booking. **Wood-Fired Hot Tub:** Your hot tub is ready for you to enjoy whenever you like. It is fitted with a hot water tap, so you can fill it fresh at a time that suits you. We provide plenty of wood, kindling, paper, and firelighters. Once filled, simply light the fire and let it heat up, giving you full control over your relaxing soak. **Other Listings on The Estate:** This log cabin is one of seven unique stay options on our luxury rural estate. We can accommodate groups from 2 to 16 guests across different combinations of our properties. Please contact us if you are interested in booking for a larger group. Guest access Guests can use all of the space but the outdoor areas you may see the odd person or child as its our family home also.
