Location The apartment is 10 minutes from the centre of Monopoli, one of Italy’s hidden gems. Known for its lively bars and nightlife, the town’s cathedral and the Castello di Carlo are also worth visiting. For self-catering Monopoli’s vibrant, weekly market (Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 7.30am) is the best place to pick up delicious local produce to cook at home. 
Alberobello, (25 minutes) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as one of the centres of Italy’s Slow Food Movement. The town is a must-see. It is famous for its traditional Trulli houses and excellent restaurants. All along this stretch of coast, visitors will find some of Italy’s most beautiful beaches. North of Monopoli is Polignano a Mare (15 minutes) which offers excellent snorkelling in its clear waters. For history lovers, the archaeological museum at Egnazi (9 minutes) offers a fascinating glimpse into Puglia’s complicated past. The closest airport is at Bari, a 50-minute drive from the apartment.
