Rooms with ensuites, nr Dumfries centre

Ensuite double/twin rooms, with huge shared kitchens. Big townhouse, a short stroll from Dumfries town centre, on same side of town as the Infirmary. Large private car park. Bus stop on doorstep. Kitchens shared with mostly long-term tenants (peaceful professionals - mostly from the NHS). The rooms are all similar to those in the photos (similar decor and size) & are warm & comfortable. TV & free wifi. There's a desk and chair as well as bedroom furniture. Massive discounts for long term stays. The space The ensuites are basic but functional wet-rooms with shower, wc and basin. We don't provide meals but we do provide a shared kitchen. We recommend the Cavens Arms, and the Robert the Bruce (Weatherspoons) just along the road, or several good cafes/coffee shops on the High Street. Guests have the use of one of the 2 huge shared kitchens, with their own food cupboard and a shelf in the freezer and fridge. There are pans, cutlery, crockery etc Please note that the kitchens are quite basic and, due to the nature of the house (shared with long-term professional tenants) they can't be as clean as an airbnb self-catering property which is empty and deep-cleaned between guests. This is reflected in our price. The housemates are good at tidying up after themselves and there is a weekly cleaner. If you'd like an immaculately clean kitchen this isn't the place for you. 3 of the hobs (metal plate ) and ovens have the markings cleaned off them but can be worked out to use and, for those less keen on a challenge, the other 3 glass hobs and ovens are quite new. The bedroom is very clean. We respectfully request that all guests clean up after themselves in the shared rooms. We also request that guests are reasonably quiet, especially at night time. There's an iron and board and, in the utility room are washing machines and dryers which are coin-operated at £3 to wash and £1 to dry (commercial machines - take large loads). You need your own soap powder. Dumfries is surrounded by great countryside. We have hills, lochs, woodland, rivers, wonderful coastline and a great variety of wildlife - all relatively undiscovered by mass tourism. For anyone hoping to stay in Dumfries long-term, this is a good way to find out that you like the house and the housemates without any long term commitment. We offer great discounts for long-term stays. Some rooms are wheelchair accessible and wheelchair users are welcome - please enquire before booking. We don't live here but can try to come to meet you if it's a sensible time, or give you the door code to let yourself in at any time and we are always at the end of the phone to help with any questions/problems. Please feel free to ask any questions before booking the room. Most rooms have double/queen-sized beds but we may be able to arrange twin beds, by prior arrangement, for a small extra fee ( £20 per stay). All but one room (where we have a problem with the aerial) have TVs. If you definitely require a TV please contact use before booking to confirm this. If you plan to bring a pet please contact us beforehand. We will allow this if we believe it won't cause problems for the housemates or us. If accepted by us, dogs are allowed in the bedroom but not the shared sitting room or kitchen. Guest access Bedroom, kitchens, sitting room, corridors During your stay We can meet you during working hours or can be called on the telephone and are on call 24 hours for emergencies. The housemates are considerate and helpful and can give guidance on where to find shops etc.
