The Cozy Canopy

Located on the border of South Bend and New Carlisle, The Cozy Canopy is a handmade treehouse retreat perfect for unplugging. Nestled in the trees, it’s ideal for couples, small families, or solo travelers looking to recharge. Enjoy peaceful mornings, evenings by the fire pit, and walks on the property’s trails. Situated on the southwest corner of our primary residence property, the treehouse offers a private, peaceful space to relax. The space Inside the treehouse, you'll find a queen-size bunk bed (top bunk being best suited for agile sleepers) and a twin trundle tucked beneath the lower bunk. A cozy indoor area provides a space for meals or relaxing, complete with a smart TV and streaming services, board and card games, and Wi-Fi. The space also includes a mini fridge, coffee maker, A/C unit, and space heater to keep you comfortable in any temperature. The treehouse is accessed by a private outdoor staircase. Bathroom & water setup: We use a camping-style toilet located on the front porch of treehouse for guest convenience, along with a foot-pump sink for handwashing. Toilet paper is provided. **Please do NOT use wipes--even if packaging say flushable.** Located inside a privacy tent. Toilet is easy to use, so you'll feel confident and comfortable during your stay. While there is currently no shower facility on-site, a garden hose connected to the main house is available for your use. It's perfect for rinsing off sand after a day at the beach or for a quick outdoor refresh. Outdoor amenities: The surrounding property offers plenty of ways to unwind outdoors. You’ll have access to your own private fire pit with seating and a peaceful area for outdoor dining or relaxing. Two hammocks hang nearby for a lazy afternoon nap or a moment with a good book. Beneath the treehouse, you will spot our friendly chickens in their coop. We also provide yard games like giant dice and bocce ball for extra fun. Please Note: Due to fallen trees, the on-site trails are currently unavailable. However, Lydick Bog, located just a few minutes down the road, offers beautiful trails for your enjoyment. Below are a few other nearby activities and trails you may want to explore during your stay. 📍Location: 5 minutes to the South Bend Chocolate Factory and Indiana Dinosaur Museum 10 minutes to New Carlisle shops and dining 20 minutes to Notre Dame and downtown South Bend Day trips to Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes Things to note: The Cozy Canopy Treehouse is located on the same property as our primary residence, nestled in the trees on the southwest corner. While it shares the land, the treehouse is a private space designed for you to enjoy peace, quiet, and plenty of room to unwind. For the comfort of all our guests, we do not allow pets or smoking anywhere on the property. The treehouse is not wheelchair accessible due to outdoor stair access. Quiet hours begin at 11 PM to help preserve the peaceful environment. Guest access Guests will have full access to the entire treehouse during their stay. The chicken coop is located directly below the treehouse—feel free to enjoy watching the chickens from above or nearby! We just kindly ask that you do not open the coop door. Thank you for helping us keep the animals safe and comfortable. Other things to note A limited amount of firewood is provided for your convenience. Additional firewood can be purchased at nearby retailers. A gas camping grill is provided for use, but guests will want to bring your own camp size propane tank (16oz camping size sold at many nearby stores).
