Description
Cozy caravan nestled in the forest adjacent to beautiful gardens, a short distance from the beaches, Japanese Gardens, numerous hiking trails, and village core. Although the Caravan sleeps 3 comfortably, we have cots for children and space for a tent. We offer bed & breakfast; daily bag lunch to take on excursions and/or dinner will also be available for purchase upon request. Breakfast for 2 people included. The space Lavender Hills on Mayne is a private, pastoral ten-acre property with gated gardens that include flowers, vegetable beds, fruit trees, and forest. At the centre of the main garden is a large pond, which encircles our "chicken island." There is an abundance of wildlife on the property, and you'll fall asleep to the pleasing chorus of frogs in the ponds and hoots of owls in the looming cedars. You can also take comfort that there are no large predators on Mayne Island, which accounts for the large population of deer, who like to hang out in the fields near the Caravan. There are sitting areas in the gardens to enjoy a coffee or your picnic lunch. Guest access Guests will arrive at the lower property entrance on Mariners Way. The main house is located on the upper property, out of sight from the Caravan. Guests are welcome to stroll through the gardens and forest in the lower property; they may enjoy their meals on the large deck of the Caravan, near the pond in the Secret Garden, or at the picnic table among the fruit and nut trees in the beautiful arboretum. Please note: guests are not permitted to cross the bridge to access chicken island. Other things to note ARRIVAL Mayne Island can only be reached via BC Ferries. Guests will board the Gulf Island ferry to Mayne Island at Tsawwassen Terminal on the mainland or at Schwartz Bay Terminal on Vancouver Island. These ferries often are fully booked by the day of departure, even for walk on passengers and those with bicycles, especially during summer months. We recommend that guests make a reservation for all necessary ferries well in advance of their trip to Mayne for arrivals and departures. BC Ferry schedules and reservations can be found on their website or by downloading the BC Ferries app onto your mobile device. That same site can be used to make and pay for ferry reservations. The most affordable option is to walk onto the ferry (it costs approximately $30 return per person). Guests walking onto the ferry can often use the community bus to get to our property, or walk—it's approximately 20 minutes from the ferry to 408 Mariners Way. Or, contact us ahead of time to arrange transportation from the Village Bay Ferry Terminal to Lavender Hills on Mayne Bed and Breakfast, when available, for a $10 fee. Guests arriving at Vancouver Airport or Victoria Airport can email ahead for information on how to get from the airport to Mayne Island. GARBAGE This small island has limited garbage services so we respectfully ask that you take all garbage with you when you leave. Registration Details Provincial registration number: H576408712
