Our apartment comes with a spacious protected front porch, overlooking the common garden area. Reclining deck chairs offer comfort and a relaxed view of the ocean. Your apartment includes the large front porch area, complete with comfortable chairs AND a fenced in common garden space complete with outdoor dining furniture and a gas grill. We are available to our guests 24/7 by phone/text. Our involvement with your plans in preparation for traveling to our island and activities to do while here will be to the extent you desire! An occasional “drop by” may occur to ensure your comfort and your expectations. Welcome to Craig, AK. A quaint town of about 1200 individuals. The neighborhood where to apartment is located is just a half block from the town’s Main Street. Across the street from the apartment one will find First Bank AK. Walking a short 1/2 block, is our historic general store, JT Brown’s, complete with select groceries, fishing gear, best coffee brewing. The store is complete with original wood floors, gossip of the day, and friendly smiles! Dockside Cafe serves three meals a day, starting at 5AM. Currently is closed on Sunday and Monday. One will find easy strolling among the docks, watching the boats come in to unload their catch, stroll down to the old seafood processing plant and remnants of the old docks and the future site of our new harbor. There is a taxi on the island, the Tribal Association has a bus that has a route to pick-up individuals, posted around town at various businesses. Car rentals are available through Rainforest Auto or Hollis Adventure Rentals. If you don’t mind walking, most everything is within 6-8 block walk from the apartment. Please note travel to Prince of Wales requires pre-planning and is not simply booking a flight to Ketchikan! Without planning you may loose special time on our island and unwanted additional time in Ketchikan😜. There are only two ways to travel from Ketchikan to Prince of Wales. The IFA ferry which leaves Ketchikan terminal at 3:30PM and arrives Clark Bay, Hollis, AK. Traveling back to Ketchikan, the ferry leaves at 8:00AM arriving in Ketchikan at 11:00. It is important to keep these times in mind when booking flights. By plane: Float plane is one way to fly. Currently Taquan is the only float plane and it flies to Clark Bay (east side of Island). The number of flights varies during the season. Fixed Wing-Island Air Express These planes are equipped with instruments and have several flights a day and often as many as three planes flying during same time slot. They will land at the Klawock Airport. This is about 8-9 miles from Craig. Transportation on the island: Hollis Adventure Rentals will have a vehicle waiting for you at your point of entry on the island. Everything for the reservation can be completed on line! D.J.
