Sugar Mill Room at The Grove

The Grove is centrally located on the island and guests can access everything quickly while enjoying the serenity of the forest. The beach, grocery store, and towns are all close by. The Sugar Mill is an unique two bedroom cottage. It is set in the center of the beautiful grounds of the Grove. The Sugar Mill is a private space, but it shares a community kitchen, common area . It has it's own private bathroom and outdoor shower. The space PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY UNIQUE SPACE! The Sugar Mill Room is inside a renovated historical sugar mill built in 1769. The top floor has been converted to a bedroom with a twin daybed, and two large windows that create a nice cross breeze. A winding staircase (with a small 1/2 bath halfway down the stairs, tucked into an alcove) leads to the main floor bedroom with Queen bed, coffee/tea/wine station and many cultural artifacts as well as an observation porch. Outside, another winding staircase will take you down to the common area, community kitchen, bar, and full private bathroom. (YES, the full bath is located in the back of the community kitchen, but it is strictly for the use of Sugarmill guests only.) As a guest in this Estate Room, you will have full access to all these beautiful spaces. NOTE: This space is not suitable for young children or those who have trouble navigating lots of steps as the stairs are winding and potentially hazardous. NOTE: This space does not have it's own kitchen, but shares the community kitchen with another cabin as well as our small staff. NOTE: We host various educational programs and workshops throughout the year, one being The Grove Rangers. This is an adventure club for homeschool children that meets every Friday from 9am-1pm and they use the community area and kitchen, both of which are close to the Sugarmill. Guest access In addition to their cottage, guests will also have access to the common area where they can connect to WiFi and use the site phone to call for transportation if necessary. The common area also includes the community room and pavilion with a community bar, library, and a plethora of instruments. The fruit orchard and hiking trails are always open for exploration. During your stay Discovery Grove is family run and operated. Property manager Ty McRae, his wife Heather, and their children live on site and are ready to help with whatever guests might need. Should you have questions on restaurants, transportation, or adventures, they are here to help. Have a question regarding history, botany or marine science? Ask Ty! He is a great resource to have on site. Whether your looking for supportive host or prefer privacy, the McRaes will work with you. There is also a small staff of dedicated individuals who share the community kitchen and common areas who are helpful and knowledgeable- should you have questions about the property or local area. Other things to note Artist? Guest can book an art workshop. These include but not limited to; coconut jewelry, conch jewelry, bamboo jewelry, bamboo cups, wooden rings, calabash, lathe, and many more. Adventurer? We also can help you set up your adventures for your trip. We are teamed up with award winning BushTribe Eco Adventures who conduct island wide hiking, day kayaking, bioluminescence kayaking and snorkeling adventures. Naturalist? Book our medicinal/historical hike through the property and learn how mother nature can take care of you. Yoga enthusiast? There are a number of yoga instructors located on the beautiful North Shore who offer sunrise and sunset classes.
