The space THE SPACE Escape to our handcrafted Finnish Log Cabin, a unique countryside retreat tucked away on our private 6-acre estate in Oakenshaw near Durham. Built from slow-grown Nordic pine, the cabin combines authentic timber character with modern comfort and is perfect for couples, families or friends looking for somewhere a little different. Inside, the Log Cabin is both a peaceful sanctuary and a fantastic entertainment space. Underfloor heating keeps it cosy year-round, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light and beautiful countryside views. Challenge each other to a game of pool, enjoy the retro arcade machine, relax around the bar area or settle in for a movie night on the huge retractable 83-inch screen. The conservatory provides another fantastic living space, and the entire side can be opened up, creating a wonderful indoor/outdoor area overlooking the countryside — perfect during warmer weather. 🛏️ SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS – SLEEPS 6 The Log Cabin sleeps up to 6 guests across 3 sleeping zones: • Elevated sleeping loft – King-size bed • Elevated sleeping loft – King-size bed • Open-plan lounge – Exceptionally large luxury sofa bed (3.2m x 2m), frequently described by guests as “sleeping on a cloud” The two king-size beds are located in open, elevated sleeping lofts accessed by ladders, with restricted headroom due to the pitched roof. These quirky loft spaces are a fun and distinctive feature that many guests love, but may not suit guests with limited mobility, very young children or those who prefer conventional bedrooms. 🍳 COOKING & DINING The kitchenette includes: • Combination microwave with oven function • Double Ninja air fryer • Hob for pans • Toaster and kettle • Breakfast/bar area Please note there is no conventional full-size oven inside the Log Cabin. Outside, there is a covered BBQ area which can be enjoyed throughout the year. 🔥 PRIVATE WOOD-FIRED HOT TUB Enjoy your own private wood-fired hot tub surrounded by the peaceful countryside. Your first hot tub session is complimentary and we provide the wood, kindling, paper and firelighters. The tub is fitted with a hot-water tap, allowing you to fill it fresh at a time that suits you. Once filled, simply light the fire and allow the water to heat. 🌿 OUTDOOR SPACE You will have exclusive use of the Log Cabin, its private patio, conservatory and hot tub. The cabin sits within our private 6-acre estate, so you may occasionally see our family or guests staying in other accommodation within the wider grounds. Guests can also enjoy the beautiful countryside setting and woodland play park. 📐 FLOOR PLANS & 360° TOURS Detailed photographs, floor plans and interactive 360° tours are available to view before booking, allowing you to explore the layout and sleeping areas and make sure the accommodation is right for your group. 📍 LOCATION Oakenshaw offers a peaceful countryside setting while remaining conveniently located for exploring County Durham. Historic Durham City is approximately 7 miles away, with Bishop Auckland also within easy driving distance. Attractions including Auckland Castle, Kynren, Beamish Museum, Raby Castle, High Force Waterfall and the Durham Dales are all within reach. 🌙 QUIET HOURS – PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING As the Log Cabin is situated on our private estate, there may be other guests staying in separate accommodation on site. Quiet hours are strictly 10pm–8am. Noise must be kept to a minimum during these hours, particularly when using the hot tub and outdoor areas. The Log Cabin is located within our 6-acre private estate, which has several separate accommodation options. Depending on bookings during your stay, there may be other guests staying in The Barn or The Oak, so you may occasionally see other guests within the wider outdoor areas of the estate. Your Log Cabin accommodation, patio and hot tub are for your group only and are not shared with other guests.
