We have preserved the "character" and quirky original "design" of the structure but mixed light-hearted, whimsical decorating touches with traditional/historical pieces and added great attention to detail (e.g. new, luxury mattresses with top-shelf linens) to provide a relaxing, no-stress setting. The property itself is special - just on the edge of Newport proper (just minutes from the bustling waterfront, beaches, and key tourist attractions) but tucked back in a hidden spot adjacent to 50+ acres of wildlife preserve. It features a babbling brook, an orchid (apples, pears, persimmons, pomegranates, plums), and a big vegetable garden. Guest access Entire home with a fenced yard... plus full access to the many acres of open space in front of the property. Other things to note We live in the structure behind this home and are in the process of renovating this 150yr old former barn structure. There is plenty of separation between the homes and your neighbors (that would be me and my family) are easy-going and pretty invisible. Have fun... all we ask is that guests give us our space (including our multi-acre backyard) as well. Parking can be an issue. The home has a lot that easily fits 4 mid-size vehicles or 3 SUVs. In addition, there are 2 spots in front of the garage and, if needed, there is room to park a few more vehicles in the circular driveway... although not all will have easy come/go access with others in front/behind.
