Secluded retreat on Gipóia Island

Sítio do Meio is a place of intentional peacefulness, set among untouched Mata Atlântica and the sea, just 15 min from downtown Angra. Showering with local spring water while witnessing an unforgettable sunset is just one of the many pleasures you will enjoy. The space Located on Gipóia Island, Sítio do Meio is a property divided into several modules. Three suites in the upper house can accommodate up to six guests. Showers are heated by gas and electricity is provided through solar panels and a generator. The kitchen, living room, and bar area are located in the lower house. The lower house was originally built by fishermen and its charm has been preserved for decades without compromising comfort. Next to the lower house, an ample patio offers a beautiful one-piece wood table to enjoy meals with a 100% ocean-view. Between the houses is the gathering lounge, a charming gazebo area with hammocks, chaises and tables where the BBQ and pizza oven are. The deck is approximately 90 m2 and a moor can accommodate a boat up to 32 feet. The live-in property keeper (housekeeper) is responsible for the outdoors and nautical support. Housekeeping and cooking services are available at a daily fee. We can also help you with grocery shopping, boat transfers and boat tours. ---------------- Located on Gipóia Island, Sítio do Meio is a property integrated into nature. The upstairs house offers accommodation in three suites for up to six people. Showers with gas-heated water and good pressure. Electricity is generated by solar panels. Well-equipped kitchen integrated with the living and dining room. These rooms are located in the lower house that was originally built by fishermen, and the charm is preserved without compromising comfort. On the balcony there is a beautiful one-piece wooden table for guests to dine in the shade outdoors and overlooking the sea. The gazebo between the houses is an outdoor seating area with tables and sofas with colorful cushions. The barbecue and a wood-fired oven next to this gazebo are inviting for a barbecue for lunch and wood-fired pizza at the end of the day. The newly renovated deck with an area of approximately 90 sq. meters is the ideal place to sunbathe between one dip and another. The caretaker who lives on the property is responsible for external services and nautical support. Cook, housekeeper and nanny services can be arranged separately for a daily fee charged by the caretaker's wife. Grocery and fish shopping is also a service we offer, and pretty much all guests love this convenience. Just give her the shopping list and make the deposit in the housekeeper's account, and she will take care of everything. Access to the property is only by boat, and we have a partnership with the trawler Planeta Água, which transfers guests to and from the island, and the cost of this transfer is already included in the daily rate. The boarding location can be the Praia do Bomfim pier, where there is a parking lot to leave your car, or at Pirata's Mall for guests who come by rental car or Uber. Gipoia Island has beautiful beaches, including the famous Dentist's Beach. As access to these beaches is only by sea, we suggest renting a boat to go around the island, even if only for a period of 3-4 hours. Guest access -------- Diving masks and duck feet, floating noodles and two kayaks are available to guests. Other things to note Water is supplied from a local upstream spring and is naturally drinkable. Close to the property there is a small marine farm producing scallops, oysters and mussels and you are welcome to learn about and help with work at the farm if you are interested. NO air conditioning. Each bedroom has a fan. Grocery shopping can be arranged before guest arrival with prior notice. Guests must bring all their food supplies as there is no supermarket nearby. -------- The water comes from a local source, it is naturally drinkable but we still have a clay filter in the kitchen. The night is almost always cool, each room has its own fan and air conditioning is usually not needed. If you prefer, your grocery shopping can be done by the housekeeper before your arrival. We have a marine farm producing scallops, oysters and mussels. Whenever possible, we welcome our guests with a scallop tasting. For those who like oysters and scallops, the experience of tasting these products taken from the sea minutes before consumption is indescribable. Our neighbors are artisanal fishermen, and it is difficult to miss fresh fish on site.
