Nestled on the banks of the Brockman River, in the picturesque heart of the Chittering Valley, Wild Whispers Australia is a bespoke luxury retreat for 2 adults. The space The Dream: It began with a dream — to turn a blank canvas of untouched land into a sanctuary where nature & creativity are deeply intertwined. We found our blank canvas of open sky & raw possibility on the banks of the Brockman River, nestled in the northern hills of the Darling Range. Once part of the vast surrounding cattle & sheep farm, our 6-acre property was released as a rare one-off parcel — not part of a subdivision. Surrounded by neighbouring holdings of hundreds to thousands of acres, it offers uninterrupted, sweeping views & a true sense of seclusion. The area is reminiscent of the deep valleys of WA’s Southwest, yet it's just an hr from Perth. It feels both close to the city & wonderfully remote — a place to rest, reconnect & slow down. It has been a true labour of love. What began as a vision slowly took shape over 8 yrs, as we built both our home & Guest House from the ground up — roads, paddocks, off-grid systems & the surrounding landscape: each shaped with care & intention to support life on the land. In 2025, the journey came full circle with the completion of this architecturally designed Guest House — thoughtfully created to share this quiet, beautiful pocket of the valley with you!! Private, peaceful & deeply rooted in nature, it offers more than just a place to stay. It’s a space shaped for rest, reconnection, and a more soulful way of being. The guest house & surrounding property invite you to wander & wonder. Whether you seek solitude, relaxation, inspiration, or a deeper connection to the land, Wild Whispers is a place to pause, breathe & find beauty in simplicity. Architecture & Design: Architecturally designed, our guest house offers beautiful easterly views from the main living area & kitchen—overlooking the steep hills that cradle the valley & the winding river. The river runs along the 6-acre length of our property. Although the river runs dry for part of the year, the lush winter months (June-Oct) (Depending on yearly rainfall) transform it into a breathtaking scene, as water begins to flow again. The Guest House sits harmoniously within the landscape – rooted in the simple charms of country living yet standing apart with its quiet beauty & touch of indulgence. Blending rustic elegance with modern comfort, the private Guest House retreat sits beside our main residence yet remains entirely independent—separated by a 3.5-meter breezeway & thoughtfully positioned for privacy & seclusion. Off-Grid Wild Whispers runs entirely on solar power, supported by battery storage & rainwater harvesting, with eco-conscious systems woven into daily life. While we encourage you to disconnect, the space also offers the comforts of modern living—designed to support a sustainable ethos without disrupting the gentle rhythm of nature. It offers: Fast, reliable Wi-Fi via Starlink, Large smart TV with satellite channels & Netflix & Air conditioning & heating, powered by the sun. While resources are renewable, they are not unlimited—so we simply ask that guests share in our intention to live gently on this land. Interior: Compact in size (65 square metres) yet expansive in feel, this 3 room Guest House features soaring five-metre-high cathedral ceilings lined with natural timber, creating a cosy, light-filled retreat. A large north-facing window with plantation shutters overlooks a tranquil little lake, dotted with lily pads & a small jetty. The bedroom & living area (in one) include a king-sized bed, relaxed lounge seating & sweeping views of the little lake & surrounding valley. The adjustable bed consists of 2 king singles placed together to create 1 large king. Each side of the bed has its own remote. Adjusting the headrest is great for unwinding before bed, allowing you to sit up & read/watch TV. The footrest allows you to experience zero gravity. A fully equipped kitchen with handcrafted timber finishes, a gas stove, full-sized fridge & everything you need to create nourishing meals. A luxurious bathroom featuring a glass shower & a clawfoot tub placed directly under the skylight—ideal for soaking beneath stars or soft daylight. Exterior: We’ve created a series of peaceful outdoor “zones,” each designed to bring you closer to nature. No two visits feel quite the same—each month & season brings its own beauty, from morning mists & rain-kissed trees to sun-soaked afternoons & golden evenings. Outdoor Terrace & Relaxation Zones: • A small table for morning tea or coffee – watch the morning sun or mist rise over the valley • High-top seating for a sunset drink or quiet moment • Two sun loungers for relaxing, reading, or stargazing • Two elevated platforms by the river, perfect for yoga, meditation or stretching. • An outdoor daybed nestled between the platforms — here, your time may be simple & quiet as you listen to birdsong & wind chimes or perhaps catch sight of our neighbours’ cows & their playful calves grazing or wading through the shallows: a gentle, beautiful moment of country life. • Bench overlooking a little lake — ideal for birdwatching, frog song, or a picnic on grass/dock • Indoor & outdoor games, plus a selection of books • A winter fire pit for stargazing & storytelling — firewood, hot chocolate & marshmallows provided (June 1–September 30, in line with Shire regulations). Guest access Shared Land: Once again, our main residence sits beside your private Guest House, separated by a 3.5-metre breezeway and thoughtfully positioned to offer you peace & privacy. Guest House is all yours, as are the exterior areas we have created just for you! Plus - feel free to roam the property. You may catch glimpses of us tending the garden, caring for animals, or walking the land — but always with the intention of preserving your quiet. Whether you’d like to share a moment or simply enjoy solitude, we’re here to honour whatever pace & presence feels right for you. Animals/Wildlife: Wild Whispers is home to more than just people. We are wildlife carers (Specialising in birds, owls, nocturnal birds). You may find: • Bow & Arrow, our two friendly dogs • Sabirah Bear & Indie Boots—our rescued, orphaned steer & sheep—inseparable best friends - who carry a story of survival & friendship that’s truly inspiring. You're welcome to say hello from Outside the fence. If you'd like, just let us know & we would be happy to provide food so you can share a gentle moment with them. We can also supply food for the ducks, if around. • A chorus of wild birds—magpies (nature’s own musicians), sacred kingfishers, galahs, owls, ducks & others we’ve helped rehabilitate & release. • Kangaroos & Emus – Can frequently be seen in the neighbouring paddocks, or around the valley. For us, Wild Whispers was born from 2 profound connections — the gentle farewell of a rehabilitated owl as it glided past us 1 last time & the quiet wisdom the land offers when we stand still enough to hear it. On quiet nights, after initial release, we sometimes sense their presence — a near-silent whoosh of wings as they fly just inches from us, landing nearby — even on our shoulder, as if to say hello & goodbye, one last time. They look deeply into our eyes, as if to acknowledge that this chapter has ended, and to honour the beautiful connection we’ve shared, before disappearing into the canopy of ghost gums & the night sky. There are few experiences in life that feel as magical or meaningful as these. We hope your stay offers you something special too! Whether you're into wellness, wildlife, local wine, stargazing or simply passing through on a scenic drive or adventure, it’s the perfect base to unwind — just an hour from Perth. Please kindly note, Wild Whispers is not suitable for children or pets due to the delicate nature of its furnishings & the hazards of open water, cattle & resident wildlife. We appreciate your understanding. Pantry Essentials Included: Complimentary coffee pods, milk (longline & almond), Black & Herbal Tea selection, Hot chocolate, Marshmallows in winter, Sugar, Salt, Pepper & Olive Oil. Groceries: We recommend bringing your own groceries so you can settle in, relax & fully enjoy your stay. While there is a small IGA & local farmers' market 20 mins away along a scenic country drive to Bindoon, having everything you need upon arrival allows for more time to unwind & take in the surroundings. Of note: Stringybark Winery is close by. Open every day except Mon & Tue. Of note: We also have a 6L Slow Cooker & a Rice Cooker. . Wellies/Shoes: We recommend bringing wellies or a pair of boots/sneakers that can get wet. Feel free to explore the property, but keep in mind that during winter, the grounds can become quite wet & muddy. Having the right footwear will ensure you can comfortably enjoy the natural surroundings in any weather! Fire Safety: To protect the surrounding bushland & wildlife, Wild Whispers is a smoke-free property — both indoors & outdoors. Open flames, including candles & campfires, are strictly prohibited due to the high bushfire risk. However, during the cooler months (1 June – 30 Sep), and only when permitted by local regulations, we provide firewood & marshmallows for use in our designated outdoor fire pit — the only approved location for an open flame. Also, to create a cosy atmosphere indoors, we provide you with battery-operated candles. Noise: While the area is rural & peaceful, the property sits in a valley along the Chittering Scenic Drive, so you may occasionally hear passing cars at certain times of day. Countryside Living: As with any rural setting, the occasional fly, insect, or critter may appear — even though we take great care to keep everything clean & comfortable. Australia's country charm!! For your comfort & the next guest’s, please keep fly screens closed. While we can’t control nature or the weather, we’ll always do our best to make your stay as lovely as possible! Dogs: Our two friendly dogs, Bow & Arrow, may occasionally wander by to say hello, as they don’t always distinguish guests from familiar faces. While gentle & affectionate, they may bark from time to time — but we’ll do our best to give you peace & privacy throughout your stay Welcome: We want your stay to be truly special.
