Entrance will be through the patio door. You will be provided an entrance code before arrival. Some facts about our house: • TVs get basic cable – The Xfinity remote controls the TV and the cable. In the Living Room: - Use either the Comcast or the TV remote to turn on the TV . Use the TV remote to change the input to Input 4 (for Comcast) or Input 5 (for Apple TV.) Use the small silver remote to control the Apple TV. Feel free to login to your own services (HBO, Netflix, etc), but be sure to log out prior to departure. In the Bedroom: The TV is not connected to the cable. Use the TV remote to access the smart TV apps (like Netflix) or use the silver Apple TV remote to access Apple TV Apps. Here too, you will need to login using your own credentials to use the apps. Be sure to log out prior to your departure. ***Please note that we will not be responsible for any charges on your account if you fail to log out prior to departure. Please do not unplug or move any of the power cables, as this will disrupt service*** Smoking: • Smoking is not allowed in any part of the house • Under no circumstances should cigarettes or butts be thrown onto the grounds. Noise: • No offensive noises or disturbances or fireworks are permitted • Please be aware that you have neighbors, and avoid making excessive noise after 10PM • Parties are not allowed on the property • Overcrowding is grounds for eviction and forfeiture of entire rent and deposit • Fireworks are Prohibited on the property and are illegal in Santa Cruz. Pets: • Pets are not permitted in any part of the house. • If a pet or traces of a pet are found, the entire security deposit will be forfeited and guests will be required to leave the premises Heating: • There are heaters in each bedroom. • Please turn OFF heater before departing or before leaving the house for a long period of time. Trash and recycling: • Extra Garbage bags are provided under the kitchen sink. There is a large grey garbage can by the gate on the driveway for your use. • Garbage and Recycling get picked up on Tuesday morning. Please move cans to the curb on Monday night. In the kitchen you will find • Keurig coffee maker • Microwave • Blender • Ice cream maker • Baking Sheet • Full size refrigerator • Dishwasher • Dish soap, dishwasher pods and a roll of paper towels - And, of course, stove, dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. In the bathrooms, • A hair dryer is provided in the downstairs bathroom • To get you started, we will provide hotel size shampoos, conditioner, body soap and toilet paper ***Please open the window in the downstairs bathroom when showering to reduce condensation*** Linens: • Bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths are on every bed. There are also 2 extra sets, in the upstairs bathroom and 2 extra sets in the laundry room. • Extra pillows and blankets are in the upstairs closets. • For your convenience, please leave linens on the bed before departing. Laundry: • Washer and dryer provided. • Laundry soap is above the washer • Ironing board and iron is in the downstairs bedroom closet Outdoor furniture: • Please keep the outdoor chairs outside • Please do not move the BBQ. *** Please do not leave food outside over night because it will attract raccoons and other unwanted critters*** For the beach: • Please do not take the bedding, towels or furniture onto the beach. • You may take the Beach towels, but you will be charged $15.00 per beach towel if it is missing. Please shake off all sand before bringing the beach towels back in the house. • Beach toys can be found in the shed in the back • Beach chairs and umbrella can be found on the back porch Guest access: Please use the door on the patio to access the house. Other things to note: Checkout procedures: - Checkout time is no later than 11:00AM. Please check out on time so the cleaners have adequate time to prepare the house for next guests. As you are getting ready to leave, 1. Please start two loads of towels, so that one load is in the dryer and one in the washer machine when our cleaners arrive. 2. Please strip the beds and leave the sheets in a pile on the bed. 3. If you have used the travel crib, please fold it and put it back into the closet where you found it. 4. Take out trash – Bins are located out front. Blue is for recycling 5. When you lock the door, please ***DO NOT*** turn the knob on the handle - use only the deadbolt. Please make sure the door is locked!! The home is all yours during your stay! They are wonderfully responsive and will be happy to address your needs. Twin Lake Beach Cottage is located on quiet street/alley a short stroll to a beautiful beach. Nearby you will find several places to grab a bite including the Crow's Nest and Cafe El Palomar on the beach, Johnny's Harborside at the nearby boat harbor, the Harbor Cafe and L&L Hawaiian BBQ, to name a few. You can also rent equipment or arrange for surf or paddle board lessons on the beach or arrange for a boat tour at the harbor. For those who like the excitement of the Boardwalk Amusement Park it is only a short drive or walk away as are the wharf (look for the elephant seals) and Santa Cruz's vibrant downtown. There are various museums in the area including The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History downtown, the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center. For further exploration or a hike in the redwoods, consider the short drive to U. C. Santa Cruz. Slightly further away, in the redwood forests, you can find the Roaring Camp Steam Train and the Mystery Spot. The Twin Lakes Beach Cottage makes a fine home base to explore the surrounding coast and mountains. If you drive or bike, Eaton Street, which turns into Murray Street, provides a direct route to the Boardwalk. You can also walk the scenic route along the beach to the Boardwalk. Lyft, Uber, and public transportation are also available.
